Alright, so I’m not a co-op main player or anything like that, I just enjoy sitting down for some co-op from time to time. However with Karax being the only commander I have P3’d, I have some general thoughts about it.
I figured at first that losing Chrono entirely would have been a problem, but it turns out Karax just doesn’t care at all. Yeah it sucks for the time it takes to get out solarite upgrade 2 and 3, but overall that’s all it sucks for and most times it just doesn’t matter whether you have them or not anyways. The real problem is purifier beam.
What do you mean that every 2 and a half minutes I have a purifier beam… There is not a single mutation you can throw at me where it beats purifier beam spam. Its actually insane, yes there is some struggle with mag-nificent or minesweeper, but as long as you have a competent ally, that shouldn’t be an issue. I just played minesweeper on dead of night for 8 nights with just me defending and helping clear areas with energy, and literally won the game off of purely cannons and energy. Nerf this Cooldown back to where it was, because holy crap is it too damn strong for co-op.
I’ve had this P3 since about a week into the release of prestige, and I don’t think I’ve ever had a single challenge. It is far too easy to get to a point of stability, and far too easy to just spam orbital strike at things until they die, recovering energy between waves, and repeating the process for all eternity. And even when you do run out of energy, purifier beam is almost always there to save you, and when all else fails, massive cannon walls with OP as hell unity barrier has your back. I’d start with taking away the 50% reduction on purifier beam cooldown from P3, and then look at potentially nerfing unity barrier so Karax at least has some weakness, because as it stands right now, I don’t know who actually beats his ability to solo any mission in the game on brutal +6.
Ok, while I have to admit I also had the knee jerk “well where’s your solo of the new mutation with p3 Karax then?” But I think a more level headed and less, well, aggressive response would be more fair.
Firstly, it’s 3 minutes. Secondly, You get waves significantly more than every 3 minutes on Void Launch, on Malwarfare, and on MO. Plus, it still has a 7.5 minute cool up, and the standard for most maps is a wave every 3ish minutes give or take.
That’s honestly really slow. You can clear in well under 8 nights with literally no ally (and no stealing expansion) with p0 Karax with just spear of Adun on structures and static defense for the infested. I think a good benchmark would be… maybe night 5? With p0, p3 should be faster.
I mean I’ll admit the skill floor on this prestige is really low, but if you haven’t found challenges you haven’t looked very hard.
Are you saying Unity Barrier is helping your static or units? Cause the static version is P1, and personally I don’t see Unity Barrier that strong, perhaps outside of P1.
In general, Karax P3 benefits from the fact that it’s very much not unit dependent, which makes it also very immune to many mutators. Thing is, any changes to it to make it less resistant to mutators would also hurt it’s identity.
So, I guess to sum it up, no nerfs dang it. This ain’t no PTR Lone Wolf.
I dont think it is as strong as a Mule Bio Raynor when both are played at full potential.
you already have at least diamond experience (which means your mechanics should be decent) so you would know since everything above diamond is mechanic refinement since everyone plays the same optimal strats.
Its your build order issue most likely
SC2 itself is based on trying to get stuff that counters what the opponent does at the fastest speed without sacrificing worker production and growth.
if you want to solo DON before day 4 you need to army split clear
Where in this thread has anyone proven themselves to be mechanically unskilled? Where is the evidence backing up this assumption? That they have a differing opinion? It degrades the quality of your argument to accuse others of incompetence simply because they disagree with you.
Pretty sure clearing by the 4th night is next to impossible. I considered myself a fast player, but once OP claimed that he could clear the map an entire night before I can I wanted to learn from him. At least he sounds believable.
Karax’s p3 is indeed very strong especially against mutators because mutators are usually designed to screw with units, which Karax P3 strays away from.
It’s the way the OP presented himself in the most offensive way possible that makes his post, however legitimate (again, up for testing and replay-sharing) sound trollish. Playing the league card as low D3 with Diamond as highest finish wasn’t exactly the best move either, but whatever floats his boat.
to be fair his mechanics have to be somewhat decent and he might be feeling toxic due to either ladder grind or coop grind
climbing ladder had always been cancerous and this coop grind is cancerous too
losing to sh1t you know how to deal with on ladder has got to be the saltiest feeling you can get up there with getting uncooperative teamates in moba…
I’ve cleared it before day 3 as Kerri back in the day. She almost 1 shots the buildings with leap so you just hop to each one. I don’t remember what my partner was but DoN is always quick as kerri.
