Halucinations have limited time.

Phoenixes are fast and can go above terrain. It is an excellent way of checking opponent’s main and having a look on the map.

Probes are slower, and are not that reliable with tracking of opponents army. Also phoenixes can’t be hit by roaches or tanks, so they can actually hover above enemy army in some scenarios.

Finding sneaky bases in the corner is not a problem, so using multiple probes halucinations is not necessary.

In very rare scenarios hallucinating probes can be useful, but not usually.

yes, no need to do probe hallucination outside some kind of troll strat, I did it long ago vs a T player, he probably thought I pulled the boys while defending so he lost troops but returnet to base thinking he was about to win because he demolished my eco after killing 20 probes…wrong, I had 4 sentries and spammed hallucinated probes because I saw him approaching, so moved my real probes and made copies and pulled the boys.

If youre going to hallucinate a scout, youre typically doing it because youre scouting a dangerous area or one you otherwise struggle to get into, not because you need maximum map coverage. Having 4 scouts instead of 1 doesnt help you if, say, a terran walled off their ramp and none of the probes can get in.

It’s slow. It’s fragile. It has timed life.

Not quite that often but proxys do happen quite a bit. Not useful?

yeah but it’s free.

There is no problem with flying 2 Fenix hallucinations both sides of the map.
You see both his army in natural and his technology in his base.
Using 4 probes greatly increase effort needed and actually decreases area that can be covered.

The thing with phoenix is, they can both find proxy and check enemy main in one run. Also at that point in the game you can also have an adept run around your bases, as a reaction to lack of opponents’ buildings or bases.

So is every other hallucination type you dummy…

Yes.
