Smart Cast - HOW THE HECK do I make it work!?!

Go to Options / Hotkeys / Unit Management:

Smart Command:

Issue a command using the current mouse target without entering target mode

Edit: That means, pressing the button ONCE, 1x. Nothing else, no other button, nada, nishto, klum, nix, nothing.

That is literally Smart Cast = Smart Command = Quick cast, however you wanna phrase it.

HOW DO I MAKE THIS WORK? I sit here now over an hour just for this little option.

  • when I put a hotkey to it, it will DELETE ALL SAME HOTKEYS in my current setup. (Like say this hotkey would make the abilities that use this hotkey smart cast… how else would this work!?)
  • For instance when I put it to F which I also use for (F)eedback, feedback is unbound!
  • I ALSO TRIED editing the myhotkey.txt and then ignoring the conflict… guess wether that works…

Why did blizzard make this so complicated!? It is super easy in other games to set up.

  • If this is so difficult, Blizzard please make a guide on how to set it up - I didn’t find a damn about it.

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

Are u trying to do rapid fire? If that is what you are trying to do you need to change alt hotkey for

Choose ability or AI target

not smart command

Where did I say anything about rap. f.!!! WHERE? I ONLY MENTIONED SMART CAST!!!

AGAIN:
S M A R T C A S T

TOPIC:
S M A R T C A S T
S M A R T C A S T
S M A R T C A S T

Read with me:
Smaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaart Caaaaaaaaast

Toolip-Quote with that I tried to explain my point:

E X P L A N A T I O N ::
E X P L A N A T I O N ::

^ E X PL A N A T I O N
^ E X PL A N A T I O N

Everything necessary is in this very concise squared in a boxy-topic.

Thanks for understanding.

Based on the quality of the posts and the hostility of your reaction, it seems to me the problem lies between the keyboard and the chair. Not a lot we can do to help with that, unfortunately.

you are throwing a fit. most of us worked on controlling these emotional outbursts when we were 2 or 3. i suggest doing this as soon as possible as you are clearly behind.

Never heard of it being used in SC2. The ckosest thing we have is if you hold down the key and click, it bypasses the selector spells after it, but nothing like LoL where you point and press.

Yeah, but its like…if you knew what you were asking then…you’d know enough not to be asking the question…

This is exactly how you end up with no friends mate. Smart cast is auto enabled on all applicable units. You have to manually turn it off after building the unit and that’s why people are assuming you mean rapid cast. Because what you’re saying doesn’t make sense.

In re-reading my posts on this thread, I don’t see any place where I was upset. I think you were simply taking things the wrong way

All I did was making things more clear, since obviously it wasn’t understood. There was no emotions anywhere - BTW: It’s surprising again alot pure assumptions when I did not write any offense anywhere - other than making it VERY CLEAR . that’s what big letters are for, so you can read them actually! Or exclamation marks, so you get that a sentence is important, sigh.

Yes I am actually friends with who I explain stuff that way… if something isn’t gotten at all. lols - it’s even meant funny -

people should be a lit more funny instead of trying to interpret text-messages with no emoticons, SEE: www . nytimes . com/2007/10/07/jobs/07pre.html

Thanks.

Thanks SunRise for yhe answer.

I really wonder about why the Tooltip is literally for a Smart Cast then?
Why would there not be a Smart Cast?

You’re getting your terms mixed up:
Quick Cast: what you’re describing. You press a button and it will instantly cast the ability where your mouse is (does not exist in sc2)

Auto Cast: ability will automatically cast when applicable (ex. Zealot charge, carrier build interceptor)

Smart Cast: ability to cast one spell at a time, rather than using every spell of that type (applies to almost every targeted spell in sc2, and almost none of them in sc1.)
In sc2, if you select a group of templar and say to storm, only the closest templar will storm. Whereas in sc1, EVERY TEMPLAR from that group will storm that 1 spot, wasting energy. Sc2 templar are smarter, hence, smart casting

Here the explanation of why you might want to use smart command:

As fas as why you are not able to bound it to other keys in use is because it would create a conflict: let’s say I set C as a smart command key, and I select a ravager and press C, am I trying to cast a bile, or to “click the mouse”?

Therefore, you need to find a key which you don’t use for your smart command.

Hope this helped!

Just make sure your f-2 button is adequate for a-moving across the map and you are good to go.
