We still have to remind people that Zeratul was given nipples.
Why? That model appears in like two cinematics and no attention is drawn to them. Who even cares at this point?
Since Protoss don’t have mouths, no, they should not be mammalized.
I find character/female design in games funny since it’s often non-nonsensical.
Kerrigan was reformed on the genetic level during her infestation, I always found it odd that she still had breasts. Don’t get me started on the heels from the sequel.
D’Vorah also has breast-shapes on her carapace. Why?
Then there’s the “boob armour” used in fantasy and sci-fi everywhere (including Blizzard franchises) which is also quite laughable.
You know I was pondering about my writing few hours ago and I realised that the prevalence of swords as a weapon of choice of dragonriders in fantasy makes no sense.
Either you use Dragon for it’s insane momentum as a heavy cavalry or for it’s mobility to employ hit and run tactics as a sort of cavalry archer.
For the first one you would prefer a lance, for the second one Bow and Arrow. Or just using it as a WW2 dive-bomber.
Or in the same manner as elephants were sometimes used in South Asia - biological tank manned with plethora of archers or a ballista.
A sword is more useful for repelling boarders and enemy combatants. A lance is pretty unhelpful for that.
Side weapons are a thing. And you have a dragon. You should not be boarded.
A dragon with a rider is significantly more limited in what it can do to dislodge boarders. Turns out that tends to hurt your rider too.
Also, a sword IS a side weapon for cavalry, while a lance is largely redundant with, you know, the dragon.
Lance is for another dragonrider/dragon.
I guess i dont understand the question then.
Well imho, swords are a neat side weapon, but most of the time they are pretty pointless.
Theyre quite useful for when your lance breaks.
They’ve already walked back the nipple thing, Valerie Watrous (former SC story lead) said that they’re “birthmarks” and canonically protoss don’t have nipples. Basically it was partially an omission that Zeratul’s in-engine cinematic model having nipples was a bit of a screwup, perhaps because it was the first protoss cutscene model they made, especially with no other protoss (including Zeratul in his art and action figures for that same game) had nipples.
Similarly they seem to be walking back breasts on female protoss ever since the adept boob plate, with Rohana and Vorazun being steps in that direction (though both still had chest coverings, presumably moreso for the audience).
I mean, Artanis, Karax and Alarak also have chest coverings, so that seems more like a “theyre just upper class protoss” thing than a female protoss thing.
Did they find a new one or did they scratch the position. I liked VW.
They are pretty nice to have at the point you do need them though and they don’t take up to much space that you could argue against it.
As a primary they don’t make sense but then again you are ridding a freaking dragon it is your main weapon.
True, I should specify (especially in Rohana’s case) they seem to be coded to avoid any weird questions about whether they’re topless females, specifically covering the breasts. I’d love if they did a comic on the Aeon of Strife or something and show female protoss with the same bare upper body as male ones, but alas.
Sadly no, they do have a writing and general lore team (in charge of consistency, but they do all franchises) but there’s no “story lead” currently. Mostly because I expect SC’s story-related projects (comics, commanders, skin descriptions) are smaller and scattered and thus don’t need a single point of direction. Watrous (now Valerie Chu, she actually married the former Overwatch lead writer Michael Chu) moved on to write for Hearthstone, and was one of the leads on the writing for the most recent solo adventure they put out. For a free thing added to a card game it was surprisingly well written too.
Ok. Now im kind of annoyed that a freaking non-canon card game is getting more story development than Starcraft is right now. I get that Cardstone is basically a license to print money, but come on.
To be clear, i dont begrudge anybody working on the project, they do where Blizzard wants them. Its the people deciding where to put the effort that are annoying me.
So am I. Since I “hate” Hearthstone now.
Yeah the reality is the resources goes where the money is made from, especially with SC’s limited development. Plus in terms of story, StarCraft has always been the franchise with the smaller following, especially compared to Warcraft (whose lore community is probably one of the largest in gaming), so them getting a lot of the lore focus, even in their side card game, is still makes sense, especially when characters spawned from Hearthstone have proven to be rather popular.
Which of course I say as someone who deeply wants a return to more SC story content, as we all scrape for war chest comics and skin descriptions to get anything in the way of new lore.
Do you mean the players or the devs? Because given what theyve been churning out, i really struggle to believe the devs are particularly well staffed.
