Am I alone in wanting to have a hotkey that selects all nexuses, command centers, and hatcheries similar to the f2 that selects all army?
Maybe learn to hotkey your buildings ? If you want game playing for you, try mobas …
That would be a wasted hotkey. You group all Nexi+Forges+Cybers and Twilight for fast Probe production, upgrades and Chrono casting on a single Control-group.
1-6 Army. 7 - Nexi/Forges/Cybers/Twilight. 8 - Robos+Stargates.
Doesnt necessarily need to be this exact layout, but yes.
This is a high level binding right here.
Mr. Yap-Yap, any problem with my binding? Are not you supposed to free Hong Kong? Then you are doing a bad job at that when you pass the time trolling my posts.
While you were yapping at my bindings the blood-thirsty CCP did transplant 4 ears, 5 noses and 6 scalps of the freedom-loving HongKong ’ eres…

Forget CCs, having button to select all production would’ve been super convenient.
I lost so many games because I had my production unbinded accidently in the wrong moment, or forgt to add production buildings to bind (or they were not added where they were supposed to be added e.g. I clicked on the wrong button accidently…)
I put all my command centers on one key (5).
Shift+5 to stay alive
If I could put my opponent’s nexi, command centers and hatcheries on one of my keys, that would be grand!
Yeah sure, Toss is already super ez to play buddy
nexus, command center, hatchery
If only there was some sort of generic term for all of those…
“Town Hall”, “Command Structure”.
I don’t know why some people hate the term “town hall”, it is a fairly ubiquitous term for the main worker production and resource collection structure.

Personally i would prefer Command Structure. Lore-wise all three races are warrior organisms where expansion and production are means to increase the military power.
Town-Hall brings to mind the traders and shop-keepers that are anathema to the warrior mentality.
Even in human history (which is infinitely inferior and primitive than Protoss) the traders were treated with contempt. Their rise those 300-400 last years is linked with Capitalism.

Warcraft is more or less the same, and the main structures in that game have always been considered “Town Halls” collectively.
I think the term “Command Structure” fits SC2 better, but I don’t think there is a problem with using the term “Town Hall”.
I put all mine on 1 control group. It’s important for constant worker production and super fast saturation.
Yeah so I know how to hotkey and generally hotkey all my nexuses/hatch/command centers to a single one (I use zero and put robos on 9, stargates on 8). However, when these buildings get destroyed or when you build new ones you have to re-hotkey each time. Which is not very hard I will totally admit. However, just like how protoss gets to press “W” to select all warp gates (something that is critical to protoss function because warp gates are built all over the map and get destroyed and rebuilt pretty frequently) I don’t think it’d be the end of the world to have a hotkey that does the same thing for nexuses/command centers/hatcheries. It would improve the macro of less than elite players because honestly a lot of times when I press my nexus hotkey, it takes like 1-2 minutes before I realize that I haven’t included my latest nexus in that group sometimes.
Again if you think “W” for warp gate is critical to protoss function (which it is btw. everyone uses it), why can’t we have like a “N” for nexus/command center/hatcheries?
Ok, but doesn’t the fact that you literally always want to hotkey your command buildings every single game tell you that maybe a hotkey for it built in isn’t a terrible idea? Really guys…
Like I said, right now in protoss play, the W hotkey is a god send. I just think something similar for nexuses/command/hatcheries is a simple thing to build into the game and it’d help everyone equally.
Man the more I play this game, the more I wish F4 was a select all command center, hatchery, nexus button. It just is a real slowdown to have to manually keep hotkeying new ones, particularly in back and forth long games where they get destroyed a lot.
I hotkey some nexi individually, but my hotkey for all of them is “F.” So, there’s next to zero difference between that and the select all warp gates key.
Over the course of the game, how many expansions are you going to have/make? In a game of needing “200 APM to be competitive,” we’re talking about maybe 5 actions a game? Any time I want to add a nexus, I could just hold shift and press F.
I hate how we try to automate everything to the nth degree, while simultaneously calling hard micro tasks the pinnacle of RTS gaming. No one wants hard macro, yet everyone wants only one guy in the world to be able to micro properly, cause that’s the height of human intelligence/strategy! It’s like… this is literally the dumbest part of the game that has nothing to do with strategy…
End of tangent/rant.
The same argument could be made of the F2 button or the W for warp gate. Yes there could be a W for warp gate button or we all could just play better.
Many protoss games have 8 gates. Many protoss games you go up to 5 bases and I may lose 2-3 bases per game. If W for warp gate is acceptable why not something something for nexuses? Even more so, what happens to me a lot is that in a heated game where my APM is super high, I accidently reset my hotkey for nexuses all the time (ie I have nexuses hotkeyed to 5 and have a bunch of units on 4 and when I try to add units to 4 group my finger slips and I hotkey them to five instead)
I just think this is a simple thing to add which some players like yourself may not use but many would if available and it doesn’t hurt anyone but maybe benefits everyone.
