Revamped Fenix's Prestige 3 (Unconquered Spirit)(Army Buff)

Instead of champions getting bonus avenging protocol buff, Fenix’s army gains +40% Movement/Attack Speed.
(I added self destruct button to activate buff, I can’t simulate after death effect)

I am not too enthusiastic about the change though but I still found the prestige… I don’t know… ineffective.
What I tried to achieve is to make the prestige more helpful and straight forward.
Still, I feel Movement/Attack speed increase buff seem unoriginal but that is Avenging Protocol for you.

I pitted

  • 16 Legionnaire
  • 11 Scout
  • 2 Conservator
  • 4 Colossus
    against Protoss Masters and Machines compositions

The Result
+40% buff vastly increased the power of Fenix.
I know that the first wave that 6 Zealots came through but the result still remains clear that the +40% made the army far superior.

How about changing all Fenix army into heroes A.I ? :stuck_out_tongue:
So basically you can mass Kaldaris instead of just normal legionnaire

I’d personally like to see all the units getting a version of TDW and getting rid of the champs, possibly along with a smaller version of Dehakaburger’s AP buff here. And getting rid of the champs, naturally.

(not that you’ve got to do it OP, I just think it could have been a good shakeup if they were still actively changing the prestige)

I gave an alternative version of Unconquered spirit (enhanced Avenging protocol) just as devs intended but I can’t help to feel that multiple champions could have been a better prestige.

I always like berserking buffs

This sounds like Artanis’s warp in attack speed buffs but almost 24/7? I like it.

I didn’t see the down side. Does all your champion become a ‘regular’ unit with ‘regular’ stats in exchange for this attack speed buff?

Yeah, pretty much (except for the attack points as well as special abilities).

Maybe I should start a new topic but it kinda feels on topic enough:

1 Fenix gains acces to “true Phoenix protocol*”**
*Researched for 777/777 at AI hero thingie after all AI heroes
**All units (excluding champions) now revive once at full health after death.

2 True Purifier protocol: Disruptor now also hits air.

1 is not practical because the research time it takes to get these. Rolling out all 6 champs require the buildings and their resources, which meant built times. Then researching these champs as a pre-requisite to your proposed research. By the time it is done, the player obtain this research, you’ve reached midgame with a fully functional economy. Fenix doesn’t lack reinforcement, the opposite is usually true (where you are running excess resource at this point). Giving additional retention to non-heroic units for the amount of effort and timing required seem impractical.

(Did some math for you… 5 x AI at 100/50/60s + Kaldalis at 100/40s = 600/250 taking a minimum of 5min40s {honestly, at least 6.5min cuz no way you can research Kaldalis right away}… this assumes you have Gateway, Cybernetics, Robotic + Bay, Stargate + Fleet Beacon all built (again, hundreds of minerals and time) prior to needing to research all the A.I.) So realistically, looking at close to 10min mark since we’re not “rushing” towards getting this research. After all, without an economy, having this research is useless.

2 has been discussed in a separate thread, I am not in favour of it. While it brings Disruptor from a “rarely used unit” to “functional VS all unit”, the jump is too big. Admittedly, it is the easiest change to boost them.

Too bad we won’t see any of these ever coming true. Dburger did post a video of this on his experiment, you can check it out.

Another revamp on Fenix P3 but this time, you can make several Champions (whith hefty price)

Advantage:
Combat units can be upgraded to Champion A.I, there is no limit to them (Upgrade cost is 50% production cost of the corresponding units). Tactical Network system is maximized from the start.

Disadvantage:
Champion A.I.s do not gain additional life or shields.
Tactical Network is decreased to quarter.
Avenging Protocol is disabled.

Considered disadvantage

  • disable -20% discount
  • disable Operational Efficiency upgrade (Structure discount/tech requirement removal)
  • disable - TWD

Hey just saw that. It looks awesome. Also really strong. You should keep the AI’s life and shield increase, but make them cost additional supply (peraphs +50% like Mengsk). Anyways, it looks very good.

I agree that p0/p1/p3 play very similarly and that p3 in particular adds little to Fenix p0.

I think another approach to revamping Fenix would be to make it so there’s only one champion available, but it’s super-buffed. For newer players who one-champ anyway, this would suit them. For veterans, they could choose their champion based on the enemy comp, map, and mutations.

Mechanically, I’d imagine something like giving the sole champion 2x attack speed, 2x the TDW supply cap (bonuses up to 40 supply), 2x avenger bonus (100%/20%) to aim for ~4x DPS than the non-buffed version. Then I’d either change the Purifier Conclave so that champions are click-to-activate one at a time (not unlike Fenix himself!), or you can simply only research one to the future exclusion of the others. This way it only outperforms 6-champ Fenix p0 if you’re playing to the board.
