For me I want to save up my bonus pool b4 i want to push my mmr, bcos of that it forces me to play unrank. So to unfortunate lower leagues that clicked rank i still get queued to them…i didnt mean to be a semi smurf vs them its just the dumb match up system queues a rank guy to an unrank guy. They really need to fix that, why match up 2 people who clicked diff modes? thats broken
Why do you want to save up your bonus pool before pushing your mmr? That only applies to ladder points which are meaningless non-sense.

Division points, the ones who determine your rank (top 8, top 25, top 50 etc.) at the end of a season. You’ve got 199 points at the moment :
Those points are the only thing the bonus pool applies to (by preventing them from lowering in case of defeat, for example).
They are completely different from your MMR (3236 currently), which will always decrease with each defeat, and increase with each victory, regardless of your division point/bonus pool ; and determine which opponents you will be matched with. It’s the MMR which is used by smurfs to get matched against lesser opponents.
So OldWGB is right, bonus pool/division points are unrelated to smurfing.

because having a bonus pool pushes your MMR/Pts double, meaning less time invested into playing for a higher rank.
Nope, it pushes your division point double, but not your MMR. The MMR only varies from the standard ±20 if your opponent is stronger or weaker than you.
Considering we’ve just started a new season, you’ve just missed an opportunity to have checked this, as you would’ve seen that even during season lock and with 0 bonus pool, the MMR changes aren’t affected.
Try to empty your bonus pool, and then play a few games, you’ll see the MMR increase/decrease are unaffected.

Yeah no, Bonus Pool doesn’t affect MMR literally at all. The only thing BP is for is Ladder/Division points.
The only thing that affects how much MMR you gain/lose is the delta between your MMR and your Opponent’s. The larger the difference, the more MMR you can win if you’re the lower ranked player, and the more MMR you can lose if you’re the higher ranked player. At no point does Bonus Pool apply.

Yes you’re both right. Never really realized it before.
Here’s what I can tell you about the BP though:
I spend a lot more time winning matches with a BP as my opponents are generally lower skill.
Do people actually care about Ladder points? I think they should just be removed entirely, MMR is the only thing that matters.

yes you play for higher bonus pool so that way you can get slightly further into diamond and imminently back down the next few games.
How this will help with smurfing in any way? it doesn’t make sense.
People smurf on stream, one streamer who is master, made a Plat account, and cheesed everyone by picking up chat requests, he will de rank and do it again. That is just bad.
Do you think when there is Map Hack and cheating in SC2, and nothing is done, they going to start with the smurf problem, really?
There is a reason that top GM players very frequently leave their league.
When you accrue a BP the system thinks you are behind so it gives you easier matches.
This makes climbing very very easy for higher tiered players.
The only way you can remove smurfing is make SC 2 pay to play again.
You know how many smurfs are in Dota 2? you will be surprised.
