Browsing through Liquidpedia I ran across this ability that Carriers had in HoTS and was removed. It looked interesting and I can definitely see it as potentially abusable. Does anyone have any high level game (professional level, preferrably) they can refer me to to see this ability abused? Thanks
It was no fun you could basacly sacrafice your Interceptors with out risking/exposing your carrier that much. It was also great in Assation from high tier units and Harasment but beside that it was a cool feature having the Interceptors keep fighint even after the Carrier died.
Basically it was a kind of SH with mineral-costing locusts. When they removed this ability (whole SC2 history is a race in dumbing-down) they decreased the Interceptor cost to 5.
With 25 mineral-interceptors the Release-Interceptor ability came with a big economic tradeoff. You did not cause damage for energy but damage for money.
Not sure why it aws removed.
because all high level protosses release interceptor before carrier death.
