The Ranking System in Hearthstone is compatible to having a higher win to loss ratio. This one is great but I think it would be neat if it was on topic by Each Game.
I think its quite silly that after the first 3 games you play you are put in a category from there its almost impossible to change your rank unless you win a incredible amount to get out of the first 3 game placement.
So personally I think the Ranking system should start at the lowest rank and then go off a win to loss ratio so win 1 you move up 1 loose 1 you move down 1 and the system keeps recycling win 10 loose 5 your 5 up.
It doesn’t take an incredible amount of games to get promoted? Unless your account is old and you screwed up so badly that you’re stuck in ELO hell. But that’s a very specific set of circumstances to get the match maker to screw you over…at least for 1vs1 games.
With team games, well, Blizzard sucks at team match making and frankly, no team mode match making in any Blizzard game should ever be taken seriously. That’s been a constant ever since they screwed with HotS match making shortly after Heroes of the Dorm/HotS 2.0
The idea of a remake of the ranking system is good. But I actually don’t know if the solution you propose is the right one. First of all I would like the ranking system we have to be fixed. There are some bugs and issues with the system e.g.:
1.) There is an annoying bug that gives bronze and master borders to players that don´t have that MMR. That also effect that sometimes you don´t get your promotion and border.
2.) I find it unfair that when I choose a ranked game that I can then be matched with someone who has chosen to play unranked. I risk everything and he risks nothing.
3.) It´s to easy to make multi account and smurf on the ladder. There should be a way to stop this.
