Queens should cost 25 gas

I think queens should cost 25 gas. I’ve thought this for a long time and when I’m seeing zerg games where 11 queens are running around it just cements this idea further.

No unit in the game that’s a spell caster costs only minerals (except the queen). In fact most spell casters cost predominantly gas.
Almost every unit in the game that shoots up costs gas (exceptions are the marine and the queen). A queen and a stalker are basically the same unit, serving the same roles and in the same tier yet stalkers cost 50 gas a piece. Marauders don’t do half of what queens do and they cost 25 gas a piece.

The fact that zerg can skip minerals whilst having a defensive, high HP, non-bonus damage receiving, mobile spell caster that shoots up is a huge economic advantage. For all the properties the queen has and for all the issues people complain about with zerg eco and queen defensiveness, it only makes sense that making zergs spend a little minerals to get gas for queens is very reasonable and would help balance the economies across all three races. I think making each queen cost a bit of gas would slow how quickly zergs take 3rds and 4ths and make the eco balance in PVZ and TVZ much more even so P and T don’t feel like they need to all in or do incredible timings to have a chance vs zerg.

Queens are the only real way zerg has to stop early & mid-game harass; in addition to being required for production and creep.

25 gas would be a major, major problem; it would require altering EVERY build order – it would completely change the game.

It would be the most game-changing tweak in the past couple years.

I agree! Also make stalkers movespeed 1.31 when off pylon radius.

The queen nerf wasn’t actually a nerf but a reversion of a prior buff which is no longer necessary. They buffed Queens to address libs, then nerfed libs with map design and other things and then after years of complaints decided they needed to revert the unnecessary buff.

It would require keeping 3 drones on an assimilator as opposed to pulling all but one off. Yes it’d change build orders but lots of things change build orders. The widow mine buff recently changed protoss build orders. The battery overcharge dramatically changed build orders: 1 base fast expand is the new meta in PVP, a dramatic change from prior. People figure it out and the game goes on.

Don’t be stupid. I didn’t say they were exactly the same unit but they have the same role, same tier (Queens are actually one tier lower than stalkers), similar stats and the queen does more as a spell caster and die way less. Queens only die when the game is over. Also given current creep spread and how Queens are used they pretty much always are moving at near stalker speed anyway. Creep spread is way way way larger than pylon spread. Creep covers basically the entire Zerg side of the map for gosh sakes.

Queens just need an armored tag.

Bronze leaguers in action. Queen Armored  Queen lock on to Banshee :joy: 10 range Queen. Shameless Protoss and Terran wanna end the game at 4:30 with first Banshee/Oracle. GO PLAY ZERG

Not sure what blink has to do with anything. My point is a unit that blinks costs quite a bit of gas. Why shouldn’t a unit that spawns invisible creep, heals nearby units, spawns larva, and shoots air units also cost gas?

I just find it hard to believe that a queen is about as good as 1.5 zealots or about as good as 6 lings. Let’s be honest. A queen is about the equivalent of a stalker or even a siege tank in terms of value, ability and role. They should cost gas.

Queens costing gas would affect macro play. Imagine if stalkers cost no gas. That’s what a queen is.

Queen is more part of economy from begin of the game than agressive unit. She must be there since first and only GtA atacker is Hydralisk, T2 unit! And if Queen, as a part of eco should cost gas, than also morphing CC to OC and Nexus too… and for those of you who screaming about inject stacking - oooo mule hammer? Nothing? Chrono out units and upgrades? Still nothing? Just shut up and L2P

How about you learn to play instead?

I think it’s an interesting idea. Lets see, 12 queens will only cost 12*25= 300 gas. Honestly I think it would be a good change. The most gas intensive unit Zerg has are banelings which are also the strongest unit in the game until that point in the game Zerg doesn’t use a whole lot of gas usually. It just forces Zerg to tighten there build orders, build less queens and more actual units and be smarter with positioning

Honestly you guys never cease to amuse me with bad (I won’t use stronger word) proposals. For 5k games you didn’t even leveled up zerg and terran why do you think you have the expertise to propose changes for a race you can’t even understand?

Really I always wondered on people who play exclusively one race and have little to no knowledge for the other races. Do you in fact realize that in order to be better at this game you need to know all races pretty well?

I won’t even explain to you why this proposal is terrible as I don’t want to waste my time.

Oh, dear. Please, don’t let most of video games players think the customers of Blizzard are morons.
( I’ve had a lot of friends say that about me, please no anymore. )

OK, then Chrono and Orbitals can also cost 25 gas too, yeah? Sorry, but this suggestion is ridiculous. You can’t expect only one of the three races to pay gas for their primary macro mechanic.

1 queen per spawning pool.
If player wants 11 queens, then there should be 11 spawning pools.

Nope.

Banelings are 50 (25 for ling, 25 for morph) minerals 25 gas. They’re a mineral heavy unit when you account for the zergling used to morph them.

Zerg’s gas intensive units are Infestors at 100/150 and Vipers at 100/200. Even if you don’t take the ling into account, they’re only as gas heavy ratio wise as mutalisks.

Queen and stalker is basically same unit. This is a good idea.

MULE cost gas. And chrono is locked behind a tech path, and costs gas.

Did they say that because you like Blizzard game? Or other… More sinister reasons?

No. That’s just a joke. They still play Blizzard games too.

If you mean some comments on the Internet, we all know that. Robotics is getting more and more advanced. It’s normal.
