I’ve almost always used Diamondback for anti-air. Is it enough, or should I also add Liberator?

Queen, Y/N?
- I’d say Liberator or Diamondback, not both. Liberators are excellent but limited in their application as they somewhat rely on a critical mass to be effective and only hit air units.
I’d suggest to only build Liberatirs if it is an entirely air enemy you’re fighting, for instance an air composition on Void Launch. Alternatively if your ally is super strong against ground and just needs air support then it can work as well. Can also snipe objectives that are targetable by air. Can be good to build a squad of at least 12 to guard certain areas like the gap on the 4th entrance at TotP.
- Queens are great with specific applications. Primarily I use them for Broodling spam with rapid Fire to delete high HP enemies.
Diamondback amazing vs air, scales well as it got extra dmg to armored units.
Liberators are okay but Diamondbacks already fits the role.
The only time Diamondback are useless against is in Void Launch map, where they can’t drag down Shuttles for some reason so you need to mix up either Liberators/Infested Marines/Missile turrets for them. Not many, just what is enough to destroy Shuttles.
Brood Queens are good but they’re better off being a support team for your infested marines, the infested can’t burst hybrids down so you use Brood Queens for that.
Thanks for all the advices. One time I find Liberator particularly useful is in DoN when there are high number of Spotters in the air and just beyond Diamondback’s reach.
I’ll practice on Queens more. While it no longer one shot ground units like in SC1, it can hit air this time so it’s helpful. It not benefiting from P1 is unfortunate.
Yeah I mainly only build Queens as P3 if I want a gas sink. Pairs quite well as all abilities can be used to support your endless stream of troopers. I like having a squad of 12 or so of 1 tech unit as P3 if possible, gives me something to do.
- If it’s some air - just mass Diamondbacks, if it’s mass air - Liberators are better against it, but you still need something to hit ground. Also adding something to Diamondbacks is quite tricky because Diamondbacks require constant micro (I guess you can get away with just A-move on regular Brutal against most of things, but still).
- If you wanna get fancy - yes, if you wanna get the job done easy and effectively - no (if you’re micro god - probably yes anyways).
Those shuttles have a hidden “Unstoppable” tag that prevents that. Same deal with Vorazun… Time Stop does nothing against shuttles, nor the trains in OE and P&P for the same reason (trains will just keep trucking along)
VL is the one mission I go lighter on Db
They changed it so it does 300 dmg. So it’s like his version of Yamato Cannon. Nice thing about this change is most of what you could 1-shot would still works here, and now, it also works on air (as you mentioned), but also high hp units to at least weaken them. If you can finish them with that ability, then you’ll get your pair Broodlings.
Somebody argued why them not getting discounted via P1 from a game play perspective was helpful. IIRC, It held some water, but I still would’ve liked Queens to have gotten in none of the less
