PVZ 12 Pool Hatch in wall

I’ve seen this build 3 times in maybe 15 game and have no idea how to hold it. I know how to wall off an hold a 12 pool but if they drop the hatch to block my nat wall they can just cancel to get their lings through. Is there a way to survive once the hatch goes down or do you just auto lose if the hatch blocks you from walling?

Poor Protoss. They get screwed up so badly that they are now expected to rely on units they don’t even have to deal with a 12-pool. :smirk:

Ah, I somehow thought it’s zerg, as I never tried lings against protoss :flushed:

I assume this happens in the deathaura map correct?
you pull 5 probe to attack the hatchery immediately and then chrono-boost a zealot.
After the zealot is out, you can pull back 3 probes to go back mining, it will kill the hatchery before it can finish if they decided to finish it.
Do remember, if they are planting a hatchery in your wall, it took 300 mins of their bank, which means the zerglings will be around 20-30 seconds late, which might even gives you extra time to finish your cyber.

You don’t need to worry about your eco too much, even if they cancel, they used 300 minerals pre-2 minutes of the game, which is a very huge deal and damaging to them. Their gas will be much later and their tech even more so. Just play defensive until they stop attacking with lings, and then push after you think you have enough units.

Do note, they will usually go all-in, since they will be stuck in 1 base for quite a while. It will usually be roaches though, and you should know the text-book response of our almighty savior and one of the only standing pillar left of Protoss, the Immortal.

I know it was a mistake on your part, but this way, it made it more funny. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ramza’s solution is 100% correct.

To illustrate, there is a game of Dark vs Stats that explicitly shows you how to handle it (and what to do if you screw up)

I don’t necessarily agree with how he walled since the Cyber prevented his probes from attacking, but you definitely can “rewall” behind the hatch. Build extra gateways and Pylons and not worry about your expansion. You will come out ahead

I have the same question as a Terran.

Marines don’t kill hatchery before lings are made. Should I be making Bunkers near my mineral line? Or should I pull SCVs? Won’t pulling SCVs put me too far behind economically?

Can’t you just wall off your main? If they 12 pool hatch block you with the same timing, the worst they can do is cancel your low ground CC building and just remake it on high ground. Then you just need to bunker up + repair behind your main ramp, get a tank out (not sure if these are better or worse than Hellion), and it should be a pretty easy hold.

I have not seen 12 pool attempted against a Terran in a long time because of that, lings seems pretty awful against Terran main ramp wall-ins.

If they ever do this, it is likely that they are on 1 base. That is because 12 pool is quite a major compromise in my opinion. If it fails to do enough damage, you are behind from the start.

So in the event where the hatch goes down and blocks your natural’s walling, just give up the natural and play from 1 base. Know that the Z is on 1 base as well which also means you are already at an advantage in terms of resource and production (Z cannot survive with 1 hatch production).

You can consider either:

  1. Massing up with 3 gate 1 robo (sentries included), then clearing and taking your natural.
  2. Doing something off 1 base like 2-3 oracles; dt into archon; adept glaives.

You don’t get it:

Proxy hatch is put IN the terran’s wall preventing terran from closing the wall (i.e. where normally 2-nd supply depot would’ve been built).

Honestly I have no idea how to deal with this cheese (other than attack the drone with SCV if it shows on my doorstep). I would appreciate some help.

I see. Honestly, I have never seen this at any level of Starcraft II in the 10 years that I have been watching SC2.

Do they finish the Hatch and then start making stuff out of it? Or do they cancel it in order to allow lings to flood in? Or do they leave a small gap between the Hatch and your rax?

This is either new cheese or old long forgotten one.

They finish the hatch and starting making lings and queen, meanwhile making baneling nest at home, so after I deal with hatch I’ll be bbusted.

Does this work? Cause that sounds hillarious.

Replay plz?

Tottaly agree tough,I prefer to go Stargate into void rays against the most probably coming roaches all in.
