Just played 4 games of toss, which I practically never play, the 4th game was against someone who was better than me at zerg, and I have practiced some offrace zerg at a noob level (and found out it was BY FAR the worst race if you go tech or upgrades and will have an army maybe 25% as good as the mech or protoss player’s).
You can literally just a-move against a 9-10 minute roach ravager maxout, then max out yourself and a-move up a ramp into lurkers and still auto win, with +2 attack only finishing after the fight was somewhat close to over.
It’s obvious that the reason that I won that is not because I played good, in fact I made it a point to play as simplistic as possible with safe cannons and batteries, only take a third, and a-move at 200/200, and not micro. The reason I won is because archon immortal colossus is just mobile tank thor. It’s like mech but takes no skill at all and maxes out faster (if you build gateway units along with it).
Why would they add a race that allows for a completely new player to have some kind of a chance at winning? You would win anyway against other complete noobs if the number of noobs matters to the growth of the game. That “benefit” is literally nothing compared to making the game as horrible as possible for others and making them know that if they get matched against the unbeatable crutch race that they will have their time wasted.
It can only make people quit and be discouraged, and incredibly bore the people abusing the auto-win race that has every single unit designed to be abusive and overpowered (but especially zealots, DTs, colossi and carriers).
Obviously a protoss aspiring pro will have way more hope because he knows that he would win 100-0 against maru, so that seems to be the reason, because it would give those people permanent motivation to play knowing that the Z and T pros won’t ever switch, but then why matchfix games on top? Just the suspicion of matchfixing along with the boredom of the OP race is going to be more likely to make someone quit rather than be motivated.
Purposely making your game the most sorrily balanced thing on earth is a decision that has nothing that would be considered benefits by a sane mind.
