Hello! I need to know!
Well…kind of hard to get a definite answer about this I think, but there are some trends in the pro community. I see the Leopold fc750r a lot, and a lot of mice that are lightweight, ambidextrous, and no-frills (think Razer Abyssus / Logitech G103 / Razer Viper). The reasoning behind the Leopold is:
- Build quality of the case / PCB
- Keyswitch quality
- Simplicity
This, of course, fits other manufacturers as well…but there it is, and I see a lot of Leopolds. The most important aspect of the keyboard isn’t actually the brand of keyboard, but what type of keyswitches you get because it will heavily affect your comfort level when typing on the keys. The most common keyswitches among starcraft progamers I’ve seen are as follows:
- Cherry MX Blue (tactile clicky)
- Cherry MX Brown (tactile silent)
- Cherry MX Red (linear silent)
If you’ve never messed around with mechanical keyboards before, and there are no retail stores in your area that carry a selection of keyboards to try typing on, I would suggest going to a site like mechanicalkeyboards dot com and ordering a “switch tester”. Find the switch that feels the best to you and you could imagine gaming on for hours on-end, then order the keyboard of your choice AND A PACK OF 40A-HARDNESS O-RINGS AND WIRE KEYSWITCH REMOVER. If banging on your keyboard is causing finger fatigue…you’ll thank me later for getting the o-rings, and it’s cheap.
Good luck.
