I play Zerg, always have since SC and BW came out years ago. But I turtle like terran and hold middle map till I’m ready to move in. I’m gold right now. Was once a diamond player. But damn, Zerg seems to be easier wins then when I would play either two other races. Why is this? I’ve been on a few year break till a couple months ago. I feel like Zerg can win no matter the play style. Aggressive? We have rush units for that.
Passive? We have spines and spores for that.
I like to hold the middle of the map while I build 4-5 bases. My creep spread is decent. And my micro is good. I like to hold mid for scouting and early attacks against late defensive.
Anyone else play this way? People I play with say its uncommon. Lol
your playstyle sounds similar to high level gm chess play especially before hyper modern really took off in popularity in the second half of the 20th century
i’m not too knowledgeable on chess, but i’m pretty sure kasparov dominated high level chess even in the late 1900s from control of the center
in terms of sc2 pro players, your tempo is similar to serral but they don’t focus on the center as much as finding good holes
Sounds like the zerg meta to me. Sit back and defend early aggression with spores and queens, macro up, scout your opponent’s builds, and respond accordingly.
Zerg pros saying Zerg is imba, zerg casuals saying zerg is imba (like the OP), zerg forum whiners still saying zerg too WEAK!
Serral:
According *to* Serral, if *Zerg* plays perfect, he believes the race should not just be favored against Terran and Protoss late game compositions - they should actually never lose at all. ... But I would say, if *Zerg* plays perfect, *Zerg* late game is *stronger* than Terran late-game for sure.
Reynor:
Zerg still too weak guyz!
Big respect to you Hoonigan to tell us how does it looks for casual players aswell.
Anyway I can predict the upcoming patch already: “zerg random buff, terran random nerf, protoss… something…”. Balance team aka balance monkeys in action.
It might sound like conspiracy theory but it looks like starcraft team want’s to kill starcraft by stupid balance changes like buff zerg until the end of the world to make the red carpet entrance for the future RTS games (or just games).
Excluding the stupid balance we have there are alot of bugs in the game which most of them affects Terran and they are usually a “hidden terran nerf bugs” like battlecruisers randomly stop shooting or raven seeker missile doesn’t work with other splash damage units.
So all I want to say to zerg balance whiners noobs on the forum: JUST L2P GUYS! YOU ARE 2 LEAGUES AHEAD ALREADY BECAUSE OF THE RACE YOU PLAY AND YOU STILL COMPLAIN! Stop breaking the fun of the game for other races. I know the perfect balance is impossible but atleast let it be “mostly even”.
QFT.
I think it’s psychological. Deep down, the zerg apologists here know that they are carried by their easy race but they can’t admit it to themselves. No one wants to believe that they play the easiest race but when it comes to zerg it is in fact true. Funny thing, is when you hear supposed diamond+ zergs complaining about having to spread creep and inject like that’s something hard to do.
I play exactly like Serral, but in slow motion
Sounds a bit different. I’ve been working on my drone count lately, and usually play a very mobile playstyle with ling/bane. Gives a lot of map control, and limits my opponents ability to expand or set up meaningful engagements. So it’s not altogether different, but a bit more aggressive. It’s not uncommon for Zerg to play at least somewhat defensively, given that we tech slower than the other 2 races, while having the production advantage up until toss and Terran infrastructure develops.
