very hard to deal with when there’s a ton of phoenix’s killing overlords and i need like 3 spores per base (around early - midgame).

Phoenix are not broken.
They dont nerf Phoenix, but yeah, they re pretty op. Massable, really effective, high dps and the biggest problem, they re soooo tanky!
In a way phoenixes are broken but in a way they are not. Their damage output is not that high and they can be sniped pretty easily. But with enough of them they are tough to deal with. The real problem with phoenixes are they literally faster than everything else in the game (I might even say faster than hellions). This, in certain situations, can make them way more cost effective than they really should be. If their speed could be toned down even slightly it would really help against harassment and especially in team games. I had a team game the other day where two different guys literally went mass phoenixes because they knew what was coming. It just seems sometimes like they can do too much when massed and I think a slight speed nerf would help a lot with that.
Just don’t overreact to them. 1 spore per base, go up to 8-10 queens, get ling bane hydra or ling bane corruptor out, set hatchery’s to send units into their respective mineral lines (so you don’t lose units between bases) move all over lords to hatcheries so they have anti-air cover.
Its very important to drone extremely heavily if you face double stargate phoenix. Not only you will get more drones to make spores and the minerals to afford both them and queens, but also it is impossible to not lose drones to phoenixes so you will have repaired the damage before it is done. Basically, if you scout double stargate phoenix, drone as heavily as you can while pumping out queens enough to shoo phoenixes away from your bases after losing some drones.

1 spore per base against like 8 phoenix’s won’t work.
The number one reason phoenix’s are made in Team Games is to turn Harasscraft back into starcraft.
Every time I don’t open phoenix in 2v2 or 3v3, the following things are bound to happen:
1: Quadruple pronged Medivac drops (rines/hellion/mines/whatever)
2: Four-port Hyperflight Banshee into BC’s.
3: DT/archon/immortal drops
4: Mass muta with gas feed
5: Mass voids + proxy battery
6: Mass oracles (6-8)
7: Adept Drops
8: Enemy Phoenix
9: One-base Nydus
10: Mass swarm host
11: Mass Cyclones (a PITA in 2v2).
Right now the best PZ vs PZ mirror counter to phoenix opening is Robo + corrupter.
The moment the enemy protoss player reveals phoenix opening make 4 disruptors and 2 colossus and tell your zerg ally to make corrupters and hover over your disruptors. Enemy zerg players get annhilated on the ground by this push, espeically with ling/bane support from zerg ally).
Yeah just ignore the part where I said go to 8-10 queens. Real convenient for your argument and totally not a logical fallacy. Also feel free to get 3 spores per base, here’s now that math looks:
125 minerals per spore (including drone cost here) = 375 minerals per base, assuming 3 bases that’s 1,125 minerals right there.
A drone mines 40 minerals per minute and you’re using nine. Drones build in 12 seconds meaning you have a total of 108 seconds of lost mining time across all 9 drones not including travel time from hatching to mineral patch. So an additional 80 minerals lost in mining assuming you’re making all 9 drones immediately which would require you to have that 1125 minerals floating in your bank which is abysmal. It’s much more likely you’re broke after making 9 spores, so you’re looking at waiting for 450 minerals to come in extending that lost mining time. In addition, that’s larva not going towards army or additional drones so you could even calculate in the fact you’re 6 drones behind where you would be if you just made 1 spore per base and made additional queens which don’t take larva, contribute to ground and air fights, heal, inject, spread creep, and generally just aren’t as useless as 2 additional spores per base.
So yes, go ahead, get as many spores as you want per base. They’ll definitely help you with an immortal or chargelot or adept followup when the protoss sees you over committed to static air defense and did all the damage they ever needed to do with the phoenix they have to yourself.

I mean, you already showed you didn’t read past the first nine words of my original advice, so I’m not surprised you would stop within the first 2 sentences of my second but yeah I guess you shouldn’t read an argument just because it calls out the issue with your response and explains why you only want 1 spore per base. Frack me m8.
This feels almost all 2v2 issues. I play almost only 3v3 and except for 1 (rare), 3 (very rare), 6 (rare), 8 (rare), 9 and 10 are the same thing for me since they only use swarm host with nydus is the only common one. Most of the time it is just a mad rush to T3 and mass phoenix do nothing against any T3 air army except for zerg of course, but they just make Corruptors and Hydras for late game 3v3 anyway.
If I see mass phoenix in 3v3 its cause they are planning a mid game timing attack. If it fails and goes into the late game I have never seen the mass phoenix team win cause one player is pretty much useless in the big fight.
