Also wanted to point out for people who don’t understand economics:
Money raised by donations is NOT a zero-sum game.
Blizzard does not make less money because map creators have a Patreon account. If anything, it will lead to more map makers spending more time making maps, which leads to better quality maps & more map variety, which leads to a bigger & more active playerbase, which leads to Blizzard making… can you guess it… more money! Blizzard if anything should be supporting map devs anyway they can. This is the exact approach Valve took with Dota 2, and imo, the right approach.
Deep down, Blizzard/Activision knows this too, that’s why they won’t ban maps and their owners no matter how much you report them.
This whole thread is nuts.
omg, you’re really stupid

they simply don’t give a sht about this game anymore, from the moment when they gave up on the co-op mode, which is allegedly profitable.

This is the direct quote from the Direct Strike’s maker (go check it out on his discord)
In October, Blizzard announced the dissolution of SC2’s development team. This also meant the end of the premium program, and with it, my affiliate status.
Blizzard basically ended sc2 everything
Sure, SC2 is on life support, but give me 1 example that they ever banned a single map at any point in the last 10 years due to accepting payments, please.
Well thanks for proving you are making claims that are being sourced out of your butt. Have a great evening sir.
Well making maps is like doing it on unity or like doing graphic design or art. No one asks for it but you have right to ask to be paid, same is for 3d models, it is creative art.
But in case for SC2 asking for money NOW is meaningless on a non supported ded game, no one gives a sht about. I have used editor in the past and the way it is flooded with so many fields you barely ever use and loads so slowly, is kinda shweet better profit away from it. I have used editor to show I can make levels and scenes… which is needed in this industry.
I think there was one ambitious project with making a Transformers something but it got shut down both for copyright from the ones that hold the rights and from Blizzard. That was the end of the attempt to make money, it’s not the engine for such e xpectations.
Anyone still play Aiur Chef?
The Arcade Collection sounds really good. Might buy it.
They can’t do that, hopefully Blizzard reads this, and will fix it fast!
