The changes to warpgate have completely destroyed the identity of Protoss. A protoss player doesn’t want to queue units and play terran for the first 8 minutes of the game-warpgate is what made protoss unique, cool and fun. Having to build out of gateways is so demoralizing and boring. SC2 is cool because each race is so different! Remember the LOTV cinematic? AWESOME warp ins!
It should be reverted, full stop. having to pay for each gate to turn into a gateway is something not seen in 16 years of SC2, for good reason. Protoss has to spend gas on their units, so it’s not overpowered. Just revert warpgate changes and nerf protoss elsewhere if need be.
The terran mass pickup/droppoff change has taken a way a lot of skill expression from the game and pros like Gabe have already said it makes drops too easy and abusive. Doesn’t fit SC2 in my opinion.
Lastly, the 8 worker start. There has been massive amounts of backlash about the change, countless people have already began to quit. LOTV units and economy were designed on the 12 worker start, and lowering worker start has made many fun cheese builds unviable, and has made some units unstoppable, so we are seeing much less variety. Due the lower worker count, the game is already a slog for the first few minutes with nothing to do-yet, SC2 as a game is not appealing to ‘slow’ players. It still requires tons of APM and speed for the rest of the game.
In my opinion changing such a fundamental game mechanic 16 years into the game’s life after 11 years of LOTV. It has countless, countless downstream effects that we are only beginning to see. I would suggest a revert to 12 workers, but I’m just a humble ladder player and tournament watcher.
I’d like to end on a positive note-the zerg larvae buffs are great, as zerg is finally strong. Zerg players have been underrepresented for so long. The infestor auto attack is nice, maybe a buff to ultralisks would be good, in light of buffing ghost’s snipe spell.

Before I respond to this, do you have amply game time? Or have you played a few hours here and there with a grand total of 50 games on the new patch? If so, you’re going to need a hell of a lot more games under your belt before you even understand that this isn’t LoTV and you are very likely using LoTV builds.
Research old WoL/HoTS opens, and you’ll take a shortcut to success.
I support your assessment of the warpgate changes, but I think the mass pickup/droppoff change is actually a good one. It allows players to allocate their actions and attention to more meaningful areas. For comparison, in Brood War, workers had to be manually sent to mine after being built — you couldn’t just set a rally point on a mineral field. StarCraft II improved on that, removing the need to constantly tab back and send newly trained workers to gather resources. The mass pickup/droppoff change is a similar case
Warp gate feels pretty clunky now imo but not having fast and slow warp fields is good since nothing in the game explains that mechanic to you (barrier of entry and an inconsistency, kind of like the SiEgE TaNkZ CaNt Be ObDuCtEd change).
That said, it’s kind of nice being able to actually get units out to hold the line when some little turd nugget shows up with 16 SCVs and 10 marines or when a super ling flood shows up.
Before we were basically stuck on a panic wall off of some kind + like 2-3 units and a shield battery to barely hold.
Now, Protoss can actually swat away early all-ins with units if they play well.
What utter nonsense. Why then does blizzard make things more difficult for races like protoss, where they recently ruined the observer? And now warpgate is a pain to use? Why not add auto inject for zerg so they can ‘allocate their actions to more meaningful areas’?
It’s not really that difficult, just play some Asia server and see what the protoss’s are doing. What you are doing is trying to play high eco in a low eco setting and it doesn’t work.
I think the change to the warp gate is more like forcing the Protoss to make trade-offs, similar to the Terran’s Orbital Command and Planetary Fortress. It’s just that people have been using the warp gate for so long that they’re not used to this change.
