Oracle micro question

So I do like to open with Oracle and zap me some drones/scvs. When I watch Pros play, I noticed they use a form of stutter stepping with oracles, its likes short zap, little move, short zap, little move (2 short zaps kills one drone ) etc. When i play, its long zap a drone, then long zap another etc.

So my question is, what are the advantages of this stutter stepping with an Oracle , as im sure Pros got a good reason to do this?
1- Does this give you additional dps, help kill faster the drones?
2- Is it only to keep moving while shooting?
3-Or somethign other alltogether?

Even if you see oracle’s laser being a continuous attack, the damage is done in ticks, pros move their oracle to avoid extra damage and position their oracles in better spots because they know how to deal damage while moving without losing damage, for example, if you are figting a Z, if you micro the oracle maybe yo can avoid two attacks from a queen and that is a big deal at high level. If the pro only wants to kill a couple of drones and they see it safe because they have a couple of oracles and only one queen is hitting, sometimes they will shift+(attack a couple of drones+moving out), that way as soon as the couple of drones are dead the oracle will fly away.

Usually you need to follow up immediately after an oracle harass to try and stop an extra expansions since they can just replace any lost drones instantly. It is however going to be in vain since as soon as Lurkers and Hydra’s come out you pretty much have absolutely no chance of winning.

Good luck and post replays if you can.

Oracles are pretty unique in that they have a spell attack and their cd resets upon kill, so because they have a spell attack you want to right click instead of attack move/click when kiting and because they have the cd reset you want to go in mineral lines with 2 close together (3 vs terran) so they can instakill a worker and then kite to another fast, or if there are no defenses you can just let them sit there.

It’s also due to acceleration mechanics

Thanks guys. I was only curious about the oracles, I got subsequent plan actually pretty well defined, nothing to fancy but I like it: 4 minute 3 base, and immortal, chargelot, archon push as fast as possible, around 7-8 minute i think, to punish the zerg if he was to greed or went muta. I hate mutas:).

Enjoy it while it lasts, as soon as you get to higher levels you will realize that your build will get absolutely destroyed by early lings or mass marines.

I only use it against Zerg, against terrans i go phoenix/chargelots, then to collosus.
I am not sure how mass early lings could destroy it if i played correctly, never happenned.First i sit behind the wall, then they might try to cancel third, but with oracle, void ray, and warp gate done i got usually enough firepower to defend it, if i dont mess up putting adepts between pylons and nexus.

Usually they transition into a baneling bust but I don’t know if you’re at that level of play yet. What’s your MMR?

atm im back after long break so around 3100 Plat 1, but in the past i was for most of the time in Dia 3, hopped once to dia 2.
