Now, Astrea loss to Maru was to be expected but Clem to 2:0 Trap is different. No one should be surprised that 0 Protoss are in RO8.

Are you high ? Protosses had in qualifiers 44% PvT winrate, but because Spatz - never heard of him lost 0-7 and goblin 1-7, or 3-7. Otherwise they would have 53% win rate in PvT i think.

I see a lot of people blaming Protoss loss on this or that but it really comes down to that Protoss isn’t playing as well as Protoss usually does. Protoss has been making a lot of mistakes that he usually doesn’t, even compared to this year in the GSL. Protoss could be choking, or jet lagged, or whatever, Protoss is simply not playing up to his usual standard. So if anyone wants to cry imba these games are not the hill to die on. Protoss opponents played well and Protoss didn’t.

I mean if you take like Maru vs astrea, i don’t think it is even matter of not playing well, or not. It could be nerves, or just crumbling under pressure, or first loss getting to his head. In sc2 there is a lot of psychology too. And second game it was just bad luck, he got caught offguard, with part of his army at worst possible time… So you can’t really say astrea played bad in this case, first game he put up good fight. Not sure about other games, but i don’t think all Protosses playing badly, it is more, that this tournament is so stacked and there aren’t top tier Protoss players to match other players. It is on top tier, these top pros are so good to capitalize on opportunities and to put on pressure. Sc2 is about forcing mistakes from other player too, it may like look they are playing bad, but it can be just different in skill level. E.g. in gsl even 1-2 tiers difference is big deal!
There aren’t really many players left, pro teams disbanded and sc2 is pretty dead. Also btw there happens to be most top tier level players for Terran. Because Terran was best race in broodwar and most of pros also happened to be Terran in bw and these players transitioned to sc2. I don’t think there is just equal competition at this point.
Remember HOTS ? There was so many good Protosses like MC etc. which used to beat players like Maru, or Inno. But now how many top tier pros can you can you name now? I don’t think even trap and parting are equally skilled. And sometimes, it is not even matter being equally skilled. Some of these players can trick their opponents, or mind game. I remember Polt got dismantled by Dark once, just because his playstyle is very predictable and Dark skill matched him also.
As the saying goes “Patriotism is the last refuge of Scoundrels”, when all rational arguments don’t hold water (refusing to see the Elephant-8-Patches nerff to Protoss in 2 Years) those scumbag resort to the tried-and-true tactics of:
All Protoss played bad, all terran played good.

Well maybe you’re just considering Clem as a patch terran, but he’s in a great shape since a long time. Trap is not as dominant as before . And it’s a Bo3, things come fast.

Dude, get a Calendar. BW was in 1998 and a lot of those Patch-Terrans were not even born by that time.

The great protoss of that era were,for example Zest,PArtinG,Stats and sOs.
The same players that now are suddently considered by terrans b tier players that should lose to Clem!

Trap a Tier 2 or 3 Protoss in GSL? He’s made multiple GSL finals and has beaten players like Maru to get there. That literally doesn’t make sense.
Of course you think Terrans are just better. They haven’t been getting consistently buffed and protoss consistently nerfed. No that hasn’t happened right? They’re just better!

Wut ? That’s what i said, there were so many different players, from each race… I know about blinkstalker/immortal era vs zerg and blinkstalker maps in tvp, that’s why one time protoss dominated everything. Because it was coinflipp if you make turrets, you may die to blink, but of not oracle will mess you up…
