Since a month or so, SC2 no longer plays any sound. I tried changing and resetting all settings, changing sound output, and even a complete reinstall, but still no sound. Diablo III is fine so it’s not a generic issue. Any ideas?
This just started happening to me today out of the blue. I didn’t install anything new or anything. It’s not Ctrl + S - if I press that at the menu, it says sound is disabled, and when I press it again, sound is enabled. But there’s no sound. And like HiHo said, Diablo III is fine, and so is YouTube in the browser.
SC Remastered has the same issue. I cranked the volume sliders to max in both games. Nothing.
If I put on my AirPods, the sound comes out of those. But not the Mac speakers or the headphone jack.
Same here. Sound through the connected external wired speakers, regular Bluetooth speakers, and the internal Mac mini speaker works for everything but Starcraft/SC2. Tried the AirPods… and I had sound in SC/SC2. WTF?
Same problem with Mac mini. It worked for a while, then after the latest update, there’s no more sound.
Observations:
- On the “Options > Sound > Output” dropdown menu, there are no other options except “Default”. I have several sound output devices that are selectable on my Mac, but they’re not showing up in the game.
- I can hear sound when I connect my Bluetooth Headset. Also, the “Options > Sound > Output” is now populated with a list of sound output devices.
- With the Bluetooth Headset connected, changing the output device is possible, and sound can be heard. Disconnecting the Bluetooth Headset disables the sound. Also, there is no longer a list of selectable sound devices available in the “Options > Sound > Output” dropdown menu.
- Sound is also available when I plug my iPhone via cable. Also, the game connects to the mic of the phone through the “Continuity Camera” and “Options > Sound > Output” dropdown menu is again populated. Disconnecting the iPhone or disabling the “Continuity Camera” removes the sound.
Possible Problems:
- Sound is possibly tied to the microphone. Without the mic, the program disables sound. This is bad coding.
