New political movement to normalize not saying gg

Let’s normalize not saying GG, I don’t understand why there is this taboo in starcraft that if an opponent doesn’t say GG at the end of the game in ladder, he is insulted and considered “noob”, I don’t see the bad point of not saying gg at the end of the game If you lose, since gg means “good game”, it may be that the person does not feel that it was a good game for him, maybe he had a lot of macro or micro mistakes, which did not make it seem like a good game for him, or maybe the opponent insults him during the game for any reason, and besides, it’s only 2 letters in an online video game people, how can you care whether or not someone says gg in the ladder?

Why do you care if the opponent says you’re evil for no GG-ing? it’s just an online game.
Just never GG Protoss players. They don’t deserve it.

Game produces too much rage to say gg.

I never say gg win or lose on normal ladder. I’ve done this for years - no one really cares except for BMers. It’s normal ladder, who cares what you do or what other people think? Do whatever you want - spam the chat if you want to (though you might get reported at that point). The only time it becomes an issue is if it’s someone you know or if you are involved in a tournament/competition. Pausing on people is a trash move though. Don’t do that to people.

Short answer: people want to virtue signal their superiority over other humans, even over things as petty as “GG”, while doing nothing virtuous with their life which is why they feel the need to nitpick petty things like “GG”.

My advice to those offended over a lack of a “GG”: search your life over and find the real reason you are upset, because it isn’t the “GG” that upset you - it was just the trigger that released an already existing emotional buildup. Find what is causing your stress, fix it, and then you won’t care about GG or no GG. Do not waste time, nor energy, on things that do not matter. They are distractions from your real problems.

batz, you need to stop telling people what they are feeling, you are always so far off the point…

I think it’s funny how people take a post meant to refer to a general class of people and say it’s wrong because they don’t personally identify with it. Good luck in life, kid.

and there you go, being wrong again, i’m not saying that it’s wrong in my case, it’s wrong in… SO MANY CASES. stop trying to prove what other people are “virtue signaling”…

you are just so full of yourself.

It’s very true. That’s the first true thing I think I’ve ever read that you posted. But unlike most arrogant people, I’m not irrationally arrogant. I know what I am talking about, and when you are as smart as I am there is no need to cower behind a false guise of humility.

I hope you resolve whatever problems are causing you to stress over a “GG” at the end of a game. That is 100% honest and not sarcastic at all. You deserve to be at peace and to have the happiness that it brings.

When a random person on the internet has so much power over you that not typing “GG” makes you upset, it’s time to take back control over your life. You need a big dose of assertiveness so you stop caring what other people think, then you need to do a hard evaluation on what you think and what you care about, so that your own actions can be inline with your own wants and needs. It is the misalignment between your actions and your wants/needs that creates your stress, not external factors like if a player in a video game typed “GG”.

I am going to recommend a book to you:

Happy reading!

I never say GG.

I almost always say GL HF which is enough interaction.

I play chess online and people don’t say either and its fine.

I’d hate to agree with you, but facts are facts. When it is a public ladder game that no one cares about, people say GG for themselves (primary reason), not necessarily to portray good sportsmanship. It becomes especially evident if someone gets angry or calls you out on not saying it. All the SC2 content creators call it out all the time - they always say, “oh no gg? haha” something along those lines. You’re not a bad person if you don’t say GG. You’re not a good person if you say GG.

Can’t agree with this one though. You are practically certified irrational and have no idea what you are talking about many times.

This is plenty. I sometimes don’t say anything at all.

I say glhf to remember that we are both there to have fun, win, and prove our abilities. I say gg win or lose because there is a human on the other side and I think its a sign of respect.

Imagine playing a game of magic and at the end of it you or your opponent just grabs up all their cards and walks off. Likewise in a debate, one of you just grabs your stuff and leaves the stage. Just because we’re behind screens and may never meet the other person doesn’t mean we have to lean into it.

I say “WP” more than “GG” and I don’t really say either for the most part. If I feel my opponents deserves that sort of respect I may as well say something that actually means a damn.

What happens if your opponents see it as a sign of disrespect? It’s about you and your own perceptions of the behavior. You have no clue how the other person feels on the other side of the keyboard.

Youre right, which doesn’t detract from my viewpoint and isn’t going to stop me from acting in a way that I think is right.

But what’s interesting is that people don’t know what other people are thinking. You’d have to be a mind-reader. So they superimpose how they intend their actions to be perceived onto the group. Whether or not the group actually perceives said actions in said manner is a completely unrelated matter. It’s how JB can make racist remarks and the left writes it off as a gaff, while DJT can say “We have the best people, don’t we folks?” and they explode in a hissy fit about how racist he is.

The facts don’t have any relevance. The intentions of the actor don’t have any relevance. People by far and large will shoe-horn anything they encounter to fit their world-view and your good intentions are worth a hill of beans as far as they are concerned because protecting their closely held beliefs, which shape their world view, is infinitely more important to them than anything else.

Fortunately, the outcome of a vs match is also worth a hill of beans, so if i’m right or wrong, nothing changes.
