It was a long wait for a big balance patch for a fresh new exciting different meta to watch and play, but I’m very surprised it just reverted a lot in a few days.
I don’t cry about any balance of who is stronger or weaker here, I was just eager to see a fun game where I can expect every pro tournament to show me different excitement.
The balance objective always mentioned bringing variety in each match-up, making less viable strategies and less used units better, but it never really happened, at least for Terran vs Protoss. The cyclone change last year has a bit of help, but sadly to hear it will be reverted.
We see almost every unit in Protoss and Zerg are used in every match-up (Except void ray is only used in very limited situations), but how about Terran, all the games are centralized with Bio, except the mirror match, TvT is the most fun match-up to watch since it has a lot of dynamic for using all the units.
Helbats is useless in TvP, and also not often used in late game in other match-ups
Siege Tank is useless in TvP after the very early game.
Thor, almost not seen in TvP and TvZ except against muta and Brrodlord sometimes
Battlecruiser, almost not seen, compared with Carrier and Broodlord.
Why don’t try some buff on those cool but not well-used units?
Maybe a bit of speed increase for helbats and Siege Tank with a late-game tech? Always talking about making Mech more viable, but it never happens. I’m not saying the camping mech should be stronger, but why not try to make them faster for TvP late game when they need to defend multiple bases?
How about to try merging the mech attack upgrade and split mech armor upgrade instead? In TvP Terran only upgrades the air weapon for supporting units in Bio player, cause every late game has the same composition. Is helbat and Siege tank could also be a good support of Bio in TvP late game if has upgrades?
Instead of faster transform on Liberater, how about try this on Siege tank, probably only faster unsiege, to make them easier retreat when see mass charge zelots.
Maybe a bit of speed increase on Thor? See how Templar and Central had a speed buff, and How many Terren units have still 3.15 or below movement speed?
How about to try reducing the super long damage point of Thor to make it a little bit micro-able?
Those changes may not affect overall strength but can bring a lot of freshness to the game, should be very worth trying after we see a lot of the same games for years and years.
