What opening do you like against Zerg as Protoss, why?
When do you scout with that build order, and if possible, how?
From the list of possibilities of scout you found, what is the ideal reaction?
When is your first Archon (before third expand of after third expand).
When is storm?
When do you switch to air units? i.e Tempest, Carriers, Mothership, Storm? How many stargate do you make?
With your opening, when do you start harassing? With what, and how much damage should you done to consider the harass successful?
First Warp Prism When
p.s
I have a whopping 26% PvZ winrate this week, even against plat 1 zerg, Gosh, I need help in this match up. How did I evade all this zerg player for this long.
Adepts, follow-up depends on how I feel, can be 3 gates, 4 gates, 6 gates (all-in), or DTs
16 Gateway scout and 1st Adept scout always, because after that you are sticking to your build order, and with speed done you can’t safely scout anyway. Look for Lair, drone count, and 3rd
Fast Lair: Nydus or Mutas. Stick with original game play, but with Nydus, make sure to keep vision and clear out Overlords with air: Nydus or Mutas. Stick with original game play, but with Nydus, make sure to keep vision and clear out Overlords with Stalkers. After Glaives, start Blink to deal with potential mutas. You should still be able to deal a lot of damage if they go mutas since they will have weaker early defense, just don’t want to be pinned afterwards. If lack of 3rd base, or low drone count, drop batteries, start immortal instead of warp prism, and prepare for all-in.
with this build you rarely need Archon, but if the game continues, drop a 3rd, Dark Shrine/Templar Archive, then go Archon
Never went that far with this build. Either I kill them off the bat or I die to an all-in due to failing to macro behind the harassment.
Almost never, but if you do, start with 2 and add-on as necessary
4:10 should be when the WP is done and when you move out. Your aim is to either kill the 3rd, or 10+ drones. Make sure you macro behind it, especially constant immortal production, once you start noticing a lot of roaches being made, as that is the natural reaction
4:10 when pros do it, I think my best is 4:30
Ladder Zerg likes doing 2 base all-ins so make sure you account for that during your first adept scout, as opening Twilight is naturally weak to 2 base all-ins compared to opening Robo first (immortals) or Stargate (Void Ray vs Roach/Ravagers and Oracles vs ling flood)
alternatively, if I don’t feel like playing an aggressive game I either open Stargate Oracle and scout/try to do some damage with but ultimately just trying to secure a 3rd with it, or I just play full solitaire and max out on CIA. I find the Adept build most fun though and forces me to be able to multi-task.
Charge, because charge works on speedlings and roach pushes and it’s good as a first step to the ultimate composition.
Pretty fast, I like making a couple of sentries, so as soon as possible I like spending their energy making phoenix.
Keep macroing and make sure I don’t get supplyblocked or dont forget about the upgrades.Unless there is spire, I don’t need to do anything special.
Archon always as soon as possible, I try to get two archon first.I open with twilight-charge, so the next step is robo, then obs, then templar archives. The first archons pops out when the third is already set up and I have a good amount of gates.
Storm right after the first two archons, then I keep making inmos and archon and from time to time, some extra HT until I have 6-7.
Basically never, I finish my games before I need air units,If I sense an air switch, I attack, main army directly to the enemy, and two runbys to kill expansions. If Z makes Blords, I keep him busy or let him go a bit outside so I can send chargelots and DTs to his base while I build my stargates (at least 3), but most games the stargates do not get used because the game finish with the dt-chargelot harass or because I took too much damage and the counterattack kills me.
I play a boring macro style, so I let Z alone while I take my bases and get my powerful army.Until minute 8-9 I don’t move out of my bases, I’m not good at cheesing or all inning and I prefer rushing charge than going for stargate.
Never open with charge unless you’re allin. That’s the worst thing you could possibly do.
Never make a sentry early unless you are getting all in’d. You scout with your probe first and then adept. You should find a better build order.
Unless you’re doing an archon drop, you should never rush straight into archon tech unless you know it’s safe. This is because it is a tech heavy investment, and if the Zerg decides to play aggressively, you will die. You should invest in immortals first and more gateways before getting archon tech.
Hopefully you’ve made sure it’s safe to get storm that early. Again, it’s a tech heavy investment.
Very good. Consider getting blink tech in case something goes wrong.
If you’re going full macro, I HIGHLY recommend the stargate opener. You don’t have much choice in the higher levels. It’s too valuable to let up. Even with zergs being able to easily defend oracles, it still gives you map presence, and oracles are really good at defending ling floods/allins. They are also good at shooting down ravagers for ling/rav allins. Opening anything else is very risky for full macro.
