Well I’ve had a solid couple of months getting into sc2.
I main protoss. I feel like the odds are stacked so far against protoss in platinum that it just makes me angry to play.
Terran - like a school kid, churn out marines, couple of tanks and a liberator and you’ve got no hope of defending that.
Zerg - you either do a super early all-in, or chargelot timing or youre just dead - their overwhelming economy spread so they have many bases quickly is just too hard to slow with protoss’s slow and easily killed units.
It’s just stupid. Sure I’m ‘trash’ compared to higher ranks but as someone who was putting in the time, watching tons of videos, analysing my own replays, that’s my genuine feeling. I’m borderline done.
And to beat a dead horse dont get me started on the scouting. A decent zerg can see over half the map in the first few minutes and see everything coming. A terran quickly scans your whole base periodically to see exactly what you’re doing so he can just counter and be sure before he attacks. Like…
protoss was recently buffed (by nerfing terran units - widow mine and liberator)
terran does not use scan to reveal your whole base. Prior to 5th minute, terran is allowed to use scans only for detection. Later scans are necessary to determine unit composition and location of protoss army.
What you wrote is only maybe true in platinum, in diamond to beat protoss i need ghosts, vikings and libs plus you need good control of these units (You can’t just siege libs randomly, you have to cast emp on specific energy/shield base units etc.)
About zerg - this race has been overpowered since 2017 and should be nerfed to the ground - instead balance clowncil keeps buffing the race for unknown reason (either super bias or complete lack of competence).
… Scan is an opportunity cost of 225 minerals and not only are Observers 25/75 they take supply. How do you play this game and not know these things?
Observers also like, don’t see into the base much at all because a single random Missile Turret existing causes it to die. Or a Raven.
Because, you know, any Terran ever will in fact have a large number of units that shoot up and snap the squishy Observer out of the sky like a child breaks a twig.
The Observer, unlike Scanner Sweep, is fairly prone to dozens of incidental things. It takes supply, takes production time off a tech structure, and -
You know these things. You must know all of these things already. Why misrepresent things like this?
edit: It occurs to me that the 50/100 probably was in reference to the Sentry.
Which, you know, also isn’t going to see everything, has downtime just like scan, and can also be shot out of the sky - even easier than an Observer, still costs supply …
My truth after playing random for a year (M3 D1) ; Protoss is the easiest race skillwise.
It’s my best race right now even if i mained terran 10 years.
It cannot be shot out of the sky “easily” the thing moves at mach 20, meanwhile a Reaper moves along the ground.
Do NOT please compare Terran scouting to Protoss. Terran has various advantages but it’s pure braindead to suggest that Terran scouting is comparable to Protoss…
I’m always interested how posts like this are conveniently forgotten in the wake of all the “Terran whining.” I suppose Protoss posts like this are “non-whine” with the Eliwans of the world defending it.
Main problem with Protoss is it build reason mostly a move make its micro ability so late game it becomes hard to micro.
Who ever design this sucks, Terran is stream line how many tech paths vs spell casters. Should indicate a problem
Ghost one building after barracks
Zerg upgrade (that tied to unit so its fight
And building.
Protoss 3 buildings and its micro abilities tied between two buildings.
I forgot how bad the trolls are on bnet until Eliwan responded to one of my threads. He’s insanely adversarial right from the start, posts a lie that can be easily fact checked by reading the post before him, implies that I am lying, and then proceeds to say all my posts are nonsense. It’s clear his focus is to attack me, and not discuss the topic.
I tried explaining things to him and when he doubled-down I blocked the dude. I don’t tolerate that kind of BS. I also blocked anyone who upvoted him. I don’t have time for that stuff. Legit weeded out 6 trolls in one afternoon. I don’t have to read a single one of their posts ever again. In real life, if someone sees they’ve agitated you, they take a step back and say “waoo, waoo, waoo, I didn’t mean it like that,” and then you two resolve the misunderstanding after it deescalates. But when they refuse to back down, you now know the point was to agitate you. That’s how you spot a troll. The troll tries to agitate & escalate.
I was shocked when I started to stream that it was such a positive experience. My experience with the SC2 community has always been intensely negative via reddit and these forums. It’s insanely hard to joke, be silly, have some fun, or talk about controversial topics like if carriers are OP or not, without someone just going nuclear. I always knew the people on the internet were wound a little tight but it’s very interesting that they are so much chiller on twitch. I think it’s because they know the streamer will just ban them, so the rotten eggs are incentivized to be more respectful.
That’s what these forums need. If I block a troll, he shouldn’t be able to even view my posts or profile. That is how it is on reddit & twitch. Why isn’t it that way on here? Each platform has it’s own problems I guess. Reddit is tyrannical moderators. Bnet is the lack of a proper block feature. Twitch is stream-sniping. The only way to avoid annoying people is to move out into the boonies. That’s why I live in a rural utah town. The most annoying thing to happen out here is that some mormon missionaries knock on your door twice a year. Imagine being in a blue state and having to actually deal with these people living down the street from you, lmao, it sounds like a horrid experience. If they ever colonize mars, then sign me up for a one way ticket off this rock.
Yeah, he used to be pretty chill, but he and the PPP brigade got proven wrong again and again and used me as a proxy for their shared frustration, rather than realizing that their narrative was incorrect they decided I was the problem.
He couldn’t admit that Stats’ PvP and PvZ performance are identical because it casts doubt on how stats was able to beat an insanely strong zerg and yet lost to a weak protoss. The answer was obvious to anyone with eyes – stats made carriers and carriers are busted.
I had already mentioned the mmr gap, between Stats and his opponents, and that his PvP/PvZ ratings were identical, but Eliwhatever insisted it was because Stats is unusually talented in PvZ. He lied that I hadn’t provided any evidence to the contrary, even calling the posts “nonsense” and “lacking reason or evidence”. The dude wrote an essay rather than say, “Yeah, no, you were right. You did mention mmr figures for their individual matchups and, yes, it supports your argument very well.”
Hyper-aggressive, out of nowhere, totally unprovoked, and saying things that are completely detached from reality. That’s called an INSTA-block. I suspect he’s an alt account for a professional protoss player. It’s only way to explain why he’d be so triggered at the idea that carriers need nerfs.
It reminded me of this time I posted on reddit. I had a meme account on the ladder that I’d say “EZ PZ lemon squeeeeezy” at the start of every game. Like 5 dudes start harassing me, saying I am super BM, how the BM ruined their life, caused their dog to die & made them lose their jobs. I am like, whatever, right. Fast forward a month. One of the accounts has been banned from reddit. The other is raging about how much they hate christians. The other is spitting insults in every direction on the helldiver’s subreddit. These are the people who were upset that I told them “ez pz” at the start of the game. Yeah that’s what the eliwhiner guy reminds me of.
Literally make any kind of aoe unit, and thats terran gone. Pick your nose and do a cartwheel and thats zerg gone. If you’re still unsure about it, just build a dozen cannons in their base and win before they get a chance.
