So I recently came back to sc2 courtesy of lockdown, however my computer which use too have no issue running sc2 can barely load it up, and when it does I’m getting on average 18-25fps, with constant feezing and skipping.
Have put all the settings down to low, checked ping etc so I know it’s the computer, planning too get a new one soon anyway for general use, but want too still be able to run sc2, on a bit of a budget as sc2 is the most demanding thing I’d be using on it, so long story short what’s the absolute cheapest I can go and still get a good performance out of sc2?
Just want the game too run smooth and too get all the optimal fps again, beyond that will probably download a few games but nothing too intense so would need some extra ram but mostly just using it for work (basic office word/excel so nothing that would tax it much) Not sure if this is a dumb question I’m not particularly computer savvy.
You might want to play around with your Render API under Options > Graphics which will definitely affect to quite a degree.
I am on a 7 year old comp:
2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
And it works fine on the lowest requirements with minor frame rate drops when there is mass carriers, etc.

I play with a 10 year old laptop, 2,1ghz intel i3, 4mb ram and radeon hd 6650M which I guess is a low end card. I play only 1v1 and it runs ‘‘fine’’ (elititst gamers with super spec computers would say it is unplayable) it never get less than 35-40fps on low.
You would need a ssd nowadays, both windows and SC2 installed on ssd, and a lot of ram, 16 is perfect.
this topic should have been in the tech support forum but, since i found it, i will try to help. what you should get depends on what settings you want to use. it is also dependent on mode. it runs better in melee than in co-op for example so, if you are going to play co-op, you need better hardware than you need to play melee or ladder. you should have a cpu with at least 2.2 ghz(boost 3 ghz) and a gpu with at least 1 gigabyte of vram to use maximum texture resolution. starcraft 2 is very gpu heavy, specially in co-op. if you want to use max settings, you need either a 1080 or the 16 series gpus. i know because i have tested it on 1070 and that turned out to be too weak, causing frame rate drops.
starcraft 2 doesnt require that good of a pc i dont think, if you experience fps loss just turn the graphics down.
this is not about what you want but about the person that started the topic wants.
It could the Video Drivers, otherwise it is possible you will have to reinstall the windows.
