I have been playing SC2 successfully for years on this mid-2009 MacBook Pro until yesterday, after patching, when the game freezes in the menus screen when the new Stetmann cinematic attempts to start.
Last year, I updated the hard drive to a SSD. Best decision ever. The machine runs gloriously, and way faster than another mid-2010 machine I have (which currently has the crashing after matches issue).
I submitted a ticket, and was told that the OS, 10.11.3, is technically supported, but the GPU, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB, is no longer supported. Any ideas? The game literally worked perfectly fine as it did for years until yesterday, and I’m told the machine can’t run the game anymore. Is this actually true? Or just officially true?
Is it possible or worth it to upgrade the gpu? I can’t purchase a new comp at the moment, so I am hoping for a relatively cheap fix–I’ll also take quick and easy, if you got it.
