It’s possible some of this is also due to Covid; there was a huge hiring spree for most game companies that could work remotely and the big boom there likely had a knock on effect now. Riot went through the same thing recently.
The big question is how this effects us.
It’s sounding bad. I’ve been popping into other media and it sounds like it’s going to devastate large chunks of both Bliz and Acti.
This was a disturbing one. Support outsourced to foreign countries.
I heard (not seen anything official) that even the individual studios under Acti are getting hit, some pretty hard.
Not good at all.
I don’t know a whole lot about how Blizzard’s studios specifically are structured, but IRRC they’re mostly internal studios in the US. Activision is very different, and had a large number of studios under their belt.
Losing decent customer support is very bad though; it’s concerning to say the least.
