That’s it, that’s my question; Clearly your goal with the “balance” patch was not balance but for us to leave the servers I just dont get why? Please explain.. are these servers THAT expensive? Then give us offline mode. I dont know what yall want anymore its just weird bro.
Undo like the last few years of balance patches imo; they have done very little good for the game however this last one especially seems to have been the final blow; pros are retiring and having less fun causing them to play less causing us to have less E-sports… its all snowballing in the negative direction.
Either fix this or be honest with your intentions.

Look at aoe 2 even when Microsoft abandon game it still had huge following. Made aoe 4 it didnt do as great they would of hoped for.
Why did they destroy the Halo franchise? Why did they destroy the XBOX platform through a greedy repricing of XBOX Live? Why do they force the operating system abomination they call “Windows” upon people when in reality Windows these days is nothing more than a telemetry and spyware app for sending all of your keystrokes and curated hard drive info to Israeli intelligence agencies?
Why does Microsoft continually buy companies they have no interest in improving or even profiting from? It is about monopoly, power, and control not just of markets but the daily lives of individual human beings. Gaming developers create games not just to earn a living but because of the passion they have for their users getting joy and fun out of their products. Do you actually believe Microsoft in the history of its operation has ever cared about the happiness of their users or simply making something really cool?
By buying Activision/Blizzard Microsoft legally gets access to enormous amounts of training data for use in AI. Do you really think they care about the future of gaming anymore as they see AI as replacing software and eventually human beings altogether? Why would you care about making other humans happy when they and other AI centric companies are on the precipice of enslaving whatever humanity is left over after culling all of the rest.
The woman recently appointed to run Microsoft games/XBOX right now is a former OpenAI executive. That should tell you conclusively where Microsoft’s priorities are these days. I would suggest playing Patches mod and ladder while they still keep the servers up which I give maybe another year at most. Hopefully, I am wrong about all of this.

The BlizzIntern could of been directed to screw things up in a way that destroys the game but makes it plausible to suggest that the recent patches are just merely incompetence or a series of harmless mistakes. This sounds like a pattern of behavior across many of their recent gaming franchises for whatever reason. It is easier to blame some nameless and faceless BlizzIntern for deep sixing legacy free to play gaming products than to actually suggest destroying all popular yet unprofitable products as a matter of corporate policy.
Yeah, that train of logic falls apart in about a quarter of a second. Microsoft/Activision/Blizzard doesn’t need permission to stop supporting a game if they don’t want to.
No, the logic is sound. They don’t want another Gamergate where gamers were so shocked they went on to investigate other shenanigans going on. They want to boil the frog slowly and that means having plausible deniability for anything and everything that would generate massive backlash if people thought their destructive actions was being done intentionally. People who always give the benefit of the doubt to people or organizations that repeatedly lie and deceive people are as much a problem as the people and organizations that constantly lie and deceive others.
People who operate on bad faith assumptions and poor reasoning to propagate conspiracy theories are also a menace to society.
Their hysteria is an impediment for people who have truly credible cases against corruption because the public has to figure out how to sort out the fluff from the truth.
There is a balance here. Being completely oblivious to outside groups subverting your society is a way to lose a war without the enemy having to attack you kinetically. The Soviet Union spent enormous sums of resources on their military per GDP, but actually dedicated an outsized amount of that military budget to spending on subversive groups within countries they were looking to destabilize as well as technologies and inventions to manipulate the minds of their enemies (propaganda, psychology, drugs, etc.). Of course the CIA does the same thing, but their budget during the cold war was proportionately far less than that of the KGB.
When people or organizations lie, you need to hold them accountable and punish them severely or else these people will keep subverting your society. One problem in the west, which includes America, is you can only be legally punished for lying in court or else lying about a powerful person (e.g. libel and slander laws). Also, group conspiracy was never a crime until the RICO laws were passed which have not been enforced in decades. Few people nowadays ever ask themselves what happened to the organized crime gangs and mafias of the past and naively think the organized bad guys only come from Mexican drug cartels or "TERRORISTS” from whatever middle east country we are bombing at the time. Instead, their idea of organized crime is imprinted on them by movies like John Wick where there is some multicultural mafia that runs everything that lives by a set of honorable rules.
And whenever someone uses the word “conspiracy theory” these days, it screams either NPC who derives their morals and values from Superhero movies (i.e. a dumb person), or else someone being deliberately deceptive by trying to shut down debate (i.e. a maliciously evil manipulative person). Both types of people need each other to destroy societies because the dumb NPC person is more numerous than the maliciously evil manipulative people (i.e. psychopaths that tend to be overrepresented in government and corporations) and the dumb NPC person acts as a human shield in preventing any justice done against the evil people. I mean, mentioning certain “files” on this forum or the ethnic group surrounding those “files” gets your post removed here and nobody seems to be curious why that happens?
In the 2008 financial crisis that happened between the Bush and Obama presidencies, nobody ever went to jail for stealing countless trillions of dollars while enormous numbers of middle-class families had their lives destroyed, meanwhile Oxycontin was pushed during this time by doctors looking to exploit their patients for extra profit. The same thing happened during COVID where a certain ethnic group minted about a dozen new billionaires while enormous numbers of people and businesses lost everything.
None of this evil could have transpired if not for the cowardly NPC that screams “conspiracy theory” to any idea they are not force fed on the mainstream news while they shovel goyslop into their mouths.

The problem is not mentioning these things, it is that the things that people referencing these files tend to say are things that are against the code of conduct and that people are kinda sick of seeing so they flag it because it’s stupid, annoying, and offensive.
As a far too simple example, it is the difference between
The holocaust happened
and
The holocaust was deserved
The latter gets reported. Because it’s offensive to say or imply. It is forgiving genocide.
Having read lots of posts that ended up getting removed, the reason a suspiciously large number of posts that discuss files – of all sorts, not just this one! – get removed boils down to that the poster is incapable of making a non-offensive point.
Instead of noting that something is suspicious and weird; or calling attention to “hey this group of people who all have X in common are scummy”; the conclusion is leapt to.
Instead of saying
A, B, C are all scum and respected christians, so I don’t trust christians to have good opinions
A lot of posts went more in the direction of
All christians are scum see examples A, B, and C
It is no different than the dichotomy that I find infuriating about all-cops-are-bastarcls – There do exist good people within the police structure. I’ve met some. There are too many bad cops and there are also too many cops who brush aside their friends’ suspicious behaviours, sure.
But “all X” is too close to always going to be a faulty statement.
No, the enforcement is extremely selective. In fact, an entire 50 or so post thread was recently completely deleted after falling 20 spots (i.e. a dead thread) because these topics were discussed. It is not enough to let the thread die on its own, rather the contents need to be completely erased from Blizzard’s servers so some LLM or other web crawler never incorporates that discussion. Aside from posting corn links, there is pretty much nothing else that gets your post removed except for topics concerning a special group of people, especially when discussing inconvenient facts of history. It is weird it is even an issue on an obscure gaming forum with almost no traffic so completely erasing any discussion about these matters is very important to whoever is deleting the threads.
And yes you are 1000% correct that off-topic discussions are not supposed to be discussed, but this rule is only selectively enforced. Also, you can talk badly about any group of people in General Chat or say all members of a political party should be killed (doesn’t matter which party) or spam stuff about Donald Trump (DonnyICE) and not get banned, but if you point out the most well-documented genocide in world history (i.e. which is a fact), then you will get banned as I was twice recently.
It really does follow the controversial phrase that “To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize” which is especially ironic that the phrase is attributed to an author who is slandered as a Neo-NZI when the NZI label is merely an astroturfed label to smear anyone of European origin who is critical of the group you are not allowed to criticize. And the proof is that pretty much every single documented NZI or Neo-NZI group in the United States turned out to be led by agent provocateurs funded first by the ADL and then later the SPLC. So now whenever you make any comment even tangentially related to the “to know who rules over you” phrase because it is objectively true, the comment is immediately discredited as being of the astroturfed Neo-NZIS simply by association. A very interesting trick ironically known as well poisoning.
Imagine knowing the rules of a place, agreeing to them, breaking them, and then having the audacity to insult the people enforcing the rules you agreed to.
Imagine getting the smallest possible amount of power over others and immediately abusing it because your ego is that weak. Imagine feeling the need to white knight such a creature in your ecosystem who would delete you in an instant.
