Mengsk will be nerfed for sure

I have been playing Mengsk non stop, and I have to say that this commander will be hit by the nerf hammer

Mass cannons makes centric maps like Korhal, the one in char(cant remember the name), the train map… so cheesy. You dont even have to lose a single unit or to clear the path to finish it.

Your coop mate will stand there still building up his army while he listens that the objective have been destroied and later on that he achieved victory without even doing an all in A move.

You can get an OPERATIVE expansion in about 2-3 mins without investing in anything because you get extra 12 workers/soldiers for free with the bunker drop

Even if the ghosts nuclear bombs are ‘‘smaller’’ , you can get a tone of nuclear silos and its even better than the ones the AI drops on you

Dont get me wrong, Mengsk is a tone of fun but being honest, the things mentioned makes him kind of op in a lot maps.

Does anyone have the same feeling?

I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up limiting the number of ordinances you can build to maybe 5 max. Enough to where you can soften up targets, but not eliminate them. I think the rest of his options are pretty in line with other commanders OP abilities.

This is refreshing to see because a lot of the opinions in the co-op chat ingame isw that he sucks.

The only thing that feels clearly overpowered about him is the starting mandate mastery, which makes everything about him far stronger.

He saturates and expands absurdly fast and he techs up to a Witness over each worker line for endless Mandate and free Supply Bunkers loaded with Troopers right after, furthering his economic advantage.

He’s a very different commander with masteries,.

Because those people have no micro, no macro and anything that isnt a-movable is weak for them. They are usually only Zeratul or Tychus players.

I love Mengsk so far. he has TONS of strong and viable gameplay options, which is kinda unique. Mass aerthsplitters works. Mass nukes works. Mass Vikings works. Mass BSs works. Bioball works. Mech works. Mixed army works. Topbar + fortification only works too!

Great job by devs imho.

I’ve struggled when I’ve tried Mass Vikings since it seems hard to avoid attrition with them, at least vs ground comps.

Mass Battlecruisers seems more versatile, more mobile and far less punishing for mistakes.

But I do enjoy his build variety.

how I would manage it.

I probably would have an Empty Earthsplitter Ordnance shoot half as fast, but boost the manned trooper bonus so at full supply it shoots as fast as a fully manned Earthsplitter douse now.

It would make the trooper bonus more Immediately obvious, and indirectly add a supply cost for those who spam.

To be fair, that’s currently true for every commander on the train map.

Really? Unmanned it fires once every 30 sec, down to 6 sec fully manned. I’m amazed by the idea that it’s not already immediately obvious. And are people spamming them and not filling them?

yup!.. I found the spammers dont bother, and just que like 40 of them, to accompany the A move

also, making it unmaned take a minute instead. forces you to not leave it on autocast.

unless you dont want to reasonably fire when something is in range…

it would force you to commit your supply, or leave it off autocast between shelling to time the bombardments.

Weird. I’m really not sure that’s worth it, so I don’t see any reason to nerf it.

8 Ordnances fully manned cost 2480 minerals and 800 gas. 40 Ordnances unmanned cost 6000 minerals and 4000 gas. Both set-ups have the same DPS. The 32 extra supply isn’t worth that enormous extra cost, plus more trouble positioning them and setting them up.

I see that issue, I am just venting If they need a nerf… hurt the empty spam, instead of the full ones.

I am just throwing my opinion on nerfing the cannons, as its the offender everyone is talking about.

They should at least wait 6 months before even thinking of a nerf.

nah, he is at the level of nova, abathur, dehaka or zagara at most. Tychus and Zeratul are the OP ones that “need” nerf. Mengsk is pure fun and doesn’t need a nerf

Starting Mandate mastery and Earthshatter Ordinance are gonna receive nerfs. Anyone that doesn’t acknowledge those just haven’t experienced them enough.

The range on Earthshatter Ordinance with the upgrade is too far. The AI is too stupid to deal with it properly and it just allows you to trivialize the map with no risk to your own forces. Maps like Void Shattering, Rifts to Korhal and Oblivion Express are so easy to cheese that it’s really dumb once you figure out how to do it.

The Starting Mandate could be cut in half and it would still be a must take over the other mastery in its slot, and NO that is not because the other mastery is weak.

Welll… Aba is by far strongest commander. Zeratul is highly overrated, only his cannons are kinda broken, because the ignore many mutators. Tychus is not so strong either. Definetly nowhere near Aba or Dehaka power level.

edit: Its funny, you have actually mentioned 3 arguable top commanders in game  - Aby, dehaka and Nova and called them B tier

He’s strong, but requires a good amount of skill, both macro and micro. So I think he’s fine.

Ye I love those that say Mengsk is weak, because that opens room for me to play Mengsk later on!!

Yeah but I mean without that economy boost to allow for Swarmy playstyle, he’s more less just Raynor 2.0 isn’t he???
