i launched the nuclear annihilation on the trapped whale on mist opportunities. it destroyed the structure where it was trapped but also killed the whale so we weren’t able to complete the bonus.

I wasn’t aware the whale even had health. I assumed it was part of the structure and it flying away was just an animation.
Pff! If that’s true that’s actually hilarious! I kind of hope that doesn’t get fixed as this bug is rather amusing and fitting thematically when you consider the kind of person Mengsk is.
Better that the creature is exterminated with extreme prejudice rather than let Amon’s minions have the Terrazine.

The exact same thing just happened in my last game.
The objective just never goes away afterwards but since there’s no timer anymore it doesn’t fail either. The second whale still triggered as normal.

So it can hurt neutral objects maybe? Makes me wonder if we could blow up other important things like Walwarfare platforms.

it does fail. i checked in the score screen (only 1k bonus exp)
Well, technically it doesn’t succeed but nor does it fail, since the timer never hits zero.
You stop the harvesting, but making them say goodbye to their constituent atoms certainly isn’t saving them…
But yes, in terms of getting the bonus it’d be a fail.

Obviously, they should fix it so you still count as ‘completing’ the bonus objective, and thus get points for it, but it would be a great aesthetic bonus if they left it so said method still resulted in the whale dying due to Mengsk killing it instead of freeing it.

Hummm… I almost killed it then. I used the ability but didn’t break the cage (finished it with artillery).
