MedVac Behavior

What other unit drifts away from the battle for no reason?
Wouldn’t you expect the MedVac - at worst - to remain ‘idle’, if it has lost a command? Give Attack command upon marines? I do, it gets lost. it would be so nice if default MedVac behavior was to follow. How to improve this?

What do you even mean? Medivacs are fine if you’re paying attention. Sure the marines die every now and then but if there’s a battle medivacs do heal the injured units (if in range)
please clarify.

Right, MedVacs activate when a job to do - injured marines. But then when all is healed, mine drift away

lol because there is no command issued?

Can you clarify what you mean?

If you mean why can’t the medivacs just follow the marines, if you use the “move command” key (I use grid, idk what it is by default) then click it on the marines…it will follow them until they die.

Alternatively, put them in the same hotkey as your bio force and it will move with them for every command to the letter (meaning if you tell your bio to attack move into enemy forces…so will the medivac). For that issue I just use hold position to force autoattack and keep the medivacs from moving.

Oh okay. It’s because you A-move the medivacs with your army and when things are healed they still follow that command.

If you attack move with your bio and medivacs are in the selection they will “auto attack” (heal) and then move to where you told them to attack move to. Hence “Attack Move”.

And then when not attacking the command has been lost. That’s why they drift.

I can give you all the tips a diamond 2 player can…which isn’t much besides what I’ve learned from watching Rotti, Lowko, and Winter LuL

Considering what you’re trying to do there are a couple easy solutions:

  1. Use hold command instead of attack move (your units will keep attacking/healing but not move from their position)
  2. Set your medivacs to a second hotkey that your bio isn’t on and don’t attack move them into enemies
  3. Micro the medivacs to attack move away from the enemy forces after you attack move everything

But when group selecting with mouse swipe - the available spell that is primary is marines (and so stim?). It’s just that something in this is bugging me lol.

Medivac heal is auto-cast, there’s no reason to have the medivacs get selection priority.

Yes this game has selection priority for units in a group (which means whoever has higher priority is whose spells you get to see). There is a hotkey for cycling through this but there is 0 reason to do this for medivacs

Hell yeah! Let’s do this boii
