I haven’t got there yet but I did see couple of max level commanders. Make me wonder what happen after that. Do you still gain EXP even though you’re at max level?
I think it just stops as you don’t go passed 1000. Funny thing, someone mentioned in the chat a while back saying that once you unlock 1000 you gain the ability to leave game right before it ends with no penalty. lol

No you don’t gain exp. it’s stopped.
At max level, you still get XP after each game. But of course, those XP don’t do anything.

Heh… they could start a donation pool of XP 
Go towards those who weren’t able to get any from that bug back in Nov. 2019, but weren’t able to take advantage of the +100% bonus following that to make up for that.
