“The ultimate capital ship” should a part of a “battle group” with a VAST escort of smaller vessels. Are you aware of this? It seems that you want to “mass carriers” and A-move.
Forget skytoss. At least skytoss is somewhat straightforward, but battlecruisers are the most annoying unit to play against. However its mainly because of that damm warping ability they have. They really should either remove that warping ability or nerf it hard. The problem with this warp ability:
Battle cruisers can warp anywhere and kill a bunch of workers and a base before they are killed.
Warping does not need to be researched.
Costs nothing to use.
Is almost instant and can be done anywhere.
It makes it too easy for terrans to just turtle up in their base with a bunch of siege tanks and just warp out when ready.
They can be repaired by scvs and warped out of any dangerous fight.
Honestly. I don’t know what blizzard was thinking when they introduced this ability and why they haven’t nerfed in in a way that genuinely matters yet.
I like the idea, like an immortal but manual cast. Could be cool micro-wise, matrixing individual BC’s that a zerg is trying to one-shot with corruptors. Or instead of yamato + blinking home, you get a buffer so that more yamatos go off but no free escape.
Ok, so the problem is “Tactical Jump”. What is it in terms of Sci-Fi? It’s like a “hyperdrive”. Consider this statement: “a hyperdrive requires charging it with a lot of ENERGY”. CONSIDER this statement. Does it sound balanced to you? XD
I think battlescruisers are already very tanky. I don’t think defensive matrix would be a good idea. If it was up to me Yamato would be all they would get because you can repair them with scvs already.
Thats fair. Prior to Tacticle jump, bcs were often considered rather bad. On second thought. I have another idea. Tacticle jump could be fixed if it had the following nerfs.
Requires research at fusion core.
Maybe an energy stat to choose between it or yamato.
BCs warping in are attackable and have a 30% speed reduction upon warping in for 10 seconds.
Maybe a range limit for how far they can warp?
Requires vision to warp in.
Battlecruisers warp in with a que that has a .5 second delay between each cruiser before it warps in.
Similar to Mass recall, you have have a cursor that can select some units to warp to a location so they can’t necessarily just warp them all at once.
Changes like these could allow it to remain it but make it more reasonable. But seriously. I would rather face a full skytoss team that a bunch of bcs warping all over the place.
So you want the battle cruisers best feature to not match the lore of the unit and nerf it into oblivion?
I guess you want to nerf stim so that units go into a frenzied rage and attack each other at will until stim is used again? I guess you want seige mode to have a 10% chance to jam up and render the tank useless? I guess you want hellions to require refueling??
That ship has sailed already. In lore battlecruisers are way more powerful than what we see them as in game. Same with ultras, carriers and motherships. Motherships can freaken destroy planets in protoss lore and they get killed in game by 4 hydralisks.
Also no. Siege tanks are fine. Hellions are fine. Don’t twist my words around please. I am normally not one to complain about balance, but battlecruiser warping is legit one of those things I think that really needs a nerf.
Play 4v4 sometime and you’ll see how annoying Terran bc warping can be. In term games its not like you act as a cohesive body. Often times you can end up with people who aren’t playing like a team or make some bad moves and everyone suffers.
