Hi, I’m converting some starcraft units to D&D 5e-ish, and would like some ideas and such for it
I could really get behind this…talk about awesome! The major dilemma I see is, well, it would need a complete system remake to fit it to this game. Talk about a can of worms taking the time to figure up all the damages, armor & stealth. Would take alot of work with many ppl with experience with the rpg design. Then there would be patent & copyright issues if you make it similar to 5e and Wizards of the Coast are very sue happy if they think anyone takes there ideas to create a system for public sale. Not to say this is what your doing, but I really dig your idea even if I see colossal issues & work to do it.
To be more realistic, I could see blizzard making an MMO starcraft based. Now that would be cool as well. I would definitely beta test, put in time and footwork to make that happen. I don’t see any other MMOs that would compete with it like that. EvE is kinda close but StarCraft has an awesome storyline unlike EvE that would take the market from the Icelanders. Dang, great ideas for StarCraft I love it!
I’d focus on ground units for the most part.
Marines, Medics, Firebats, Marauders, Ghosts, Zealots, Stalkers, HTs, DTs.
Stuff like that.
With Adept as a comic relief class.
“I keep trying to get into the Hive’s mineral line, but I am so dummy-thicc, and keep alerting the Roaches hen I try to Shade in my buttcheecks.”
thank you for the heads up on that! and I’ve already taken the initiative to create the Firebat (a pyrotechnician) and my intention is to create a free public domain on these copies and piggy backing off of Skehan. For the classes I’m intending to create or would like help creating is Marine, Medic, Marauder, Ghost. That set is going to be of course the Terran class set and I’m not implementing armors into any of the classes. Instead I’m going to create a separate equipment page just for armors due to how OP there going to have to be to keep them lore friendly and such. For example here’s the firebat class (erase this portionhttps://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/Sk5PEbv3B Also, for the Firebat it’s not done or ready, it’s supposed to be a damage dealing class mainly for use against high HP combatants, and I’m having a friend go over it mainly for grammer and re-evaluation of the abilities. Again, it’s mainly a combat focused class so there’s very little if not not any at all of roleplay boosters (like a bard mainly is)
Hey there, brother. I have a friend who’s currently not able to post on here but he wanted me to give you his Discord and BattleNet names and tag so you may add him and he can help you.
Discord: shadow_of_cate#9061
BattleNet: Skehan#2515
Edit: For the sake of clarity, said friend is Skehan.
Take a look at how Warhammer 40k set up their combat and units seeing as StarCraft was originally developed to be a video game version of the tabletop 40k series.
Hi, I know it’s been a while, but I’ve completed two classes, working on the third and will be completing it today, I know it needs a lot of grammar but here is the link to everything I’ve created so far deletehttps://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/user/Bigdad881 I am working on the medic and will have it published at the end of the day as of 1/26/2020 hopefully ^^ I know that all of what I’m making is small and somewhat critical thinking but these are just templates and all can be changed and improved upon.
Keep up the good work!
Hello all, I’m finally on the last stages of converting starcraft units and creating creatures (more conversion) I’m currently working on converting the protoss and zerg creatures into creatures from the monster manual, the terran is already completed. After the protoss and zerg is completed I will be working on bonus classes for protoss and zerg races with possible races for them.
It looks like you are way down the line on the idea you had, but my thoughts on the structure of this is Units Should Not Be Classes. I don’t think it fits, thematically. A firebat is a firebat because of the armor and tech. A Siege tank is a siege tank because of the tank, not because the driver is a level 8 “siege tank.”
My suggestion would be to go with more generic classes, like soldier, MECH pilot, and medic (for Terran) and warrior, psion, and fallen for Protoss.
Soldier > Marine, Firebat, Marauder, Reaper. The class gives training and bonuses when wearing various armors. It would probably make sense to even have the medic be a subset of the soldier.
MECH pilot > siege tank, goliath, cyclone, etc. Training and bonuses when piloting MECH and vehicles.
Warrior > zealot, dark templar
Psion > high templar, adepts
I also think this would be better under an E6-style system, where level cap is relatively low. Characters would gain power, but not wizard-like reality warping powers.
Sound like a fun project though!
I would shell out for a StarCraft mmo in a heartbeat.
This is all well and good but when do we get to play?

hello all,
as you all can see I’m mostly done, for those that can see the parts that has been made is there anything that you guys would like to see added? For example I have cybernetics written out but have been contemplating on doing the same for protoss and zerg, and I want to add more but unsure what else to create for the moment. So far, going off of a few comments from earlier, I stuck with the original idea for marine/medic/firebat/ghost/mard for unit to class conversion but also created two additional classes that would be for protoss and zerg, not converting units but a mash of ideas and thoughts to make them. Is there anything that would be suggested for me to create or?
Holy Hell, you have done an amazing job! THANK YOU! My son wanted roleplay a infested Viking pilot who is bonded with his mech and finding your link was incredible. Thank you again!
hello all again, so in approximation I had decided to work on creatures for Xel’Naga type. Basically getting the hybrids, and constructs from sc2 (replayed all of the story missions from sc1 - sc2 legacy of the void). After finishing the ‘mechanic’ class, I’ll be working on Xel’Naga but while replaying everything some things had popped up and new ideas have come again. I am on the fence in these creation ideas and would like to see what y’all would think. While replaying I had thought “I should make two more classes centered around the protoss & zerg heroes” like Kerrigan, Stukov, Artanis, and Karax or something along the lines. Like for example create one class thats a combination of multiple in one class, or create multiple classes for those specified people. Any suggestions?
I think you’d have better luck converting to something like Starfinder (Pathfinder in space), which is already set up for space battles, than D&D 5E.
Still, it’s a very interesting idea
Respectable opinion, but I’m more then halfway through by this point xo)
Also, I’ve created an discord (deletethishttps://discord.gg/kPzcay I’ll be updating there from now on.
To do it with D&D would be a lot of work. On the plus side you don’t have to much with regard to world building. Just remember 5e is very generic so I would recommend keeping it simple. I would basically make one class for everything from the raw and make the different armors as gear. At third level they would choose what Marine, firebat or ravager. Then they could possibly buy feats for the different armors to specialize even more. Ghost would be an exception but could specialize as a spectre.
The other option would be to use a different system. Savage worlds could almost do the whole thing with one book.
