Hey everyone, was wondering if you all have general advice to give to someone who picked up stetman recently. Like the best way to play him, recommended masteries, that sort of thing.
Oh, and maybe opinions on his prestiges.

h ttps://starcraft2coop.com/commanders/stetmann is a very good guide.
Personally, I love the lurkers, especially their ability to deal damage while moving. Great for countering enemy ground waves.
You can go mass Infestors, which becomes effective when they’re massed by a ton. Becomes really effective when they unlock bonus Ravagers. I personally find it boring though.
When you get Super Gary, always Overcharge your Stetallites before and during engagements. The cooldown for Overcharge is low, and definitely makes your army feel less squishy. Doing that alone and always having Gary on the move and harassing makes him super strong.
Rushing Super Gary first when you unlock him is recommended to carry early-mid game.
His standard build is usually Zergling and Hydralisk. The Zerglings’ hardened shield ability makes them mini-Immortals.
For prestiges, I am a big fan of P2. Levelling P2 is hard in terms of spreading Stetallites until you reach the upgrade where Stetallites reduce cooldown based on if you have a Lair or Hive, where you can make it so the downside is barely noticeable.
Use his FAST configuration to speed up your workers in the very early game. 2 workers can fully saturate an Extractor, and I believe 14 workers can saturate a base.
Use the extra resources to save up for Super Gary or upgrades if you haven’t unlocked him yet. Once Super Gary is out, you can start saturating your bases in case you change your configuration.
Spreading the Stetallites to your ally is generally expected as good manners. Once your bases are saturated, you can stop worrying about switching to FAST to help your economy.
Again, Overcharging is really useful for you and your ally. Before an engagement starts, you can rapidly boost you and your ally’s attack speed, give shield, or rapid energy regen. If you alternate rapidly with an overcharged Stetallite, you can apply multiple bonuses to both armies that last 45 seconds.
Appreciate the tips. What masteries do you think are best?
Full Gary Ability Cooldown is great to max out for him to be both a good damage dealer and an equally great support hero.
I usually go for full Stetzone Bonuses, but if you rely on Infestor play, there is a certain amount of points you can put in Maximum Egonergy to spawn 1/2 extra Roach clumps for a max energy Infestor.
Structure Morph is good for rushing Super Gary. Stetallite Cooldown is barely noticeable. I would go full morph.
How would you level up Stetmann? It’s really boring just going ling hydra every game. Not to mention the lag.
From 1-6 you’re pretty much forced to go ling hydra unfortunately. The other units don’t get their upgrade cache until late into the levelling tree.
From then onwards, when you get Super Gary and Overcharge, Gary can pretty much carry any army comp, with the ling hydra comp being the most reliable and efficient.
I enjoyed using Lurkers as soon as they were unlocked, while Gary could soften up any air comps, especially with P2. Their Tunnel of TERROR ability is surprisingly effective against attack waves.
Mass Mecha Infestors don’t shine until they reach their upgrade cache at level 10, since they don’t have an answer for siege units and air. If you micro the Roaches a little, and have a sizeable amount of Infestors, you can Stukov an enemy force without the cache.
Mass Banelings is fun. Not as viable as other comps, but it does get the job done.
1-3 Corrupters with their missile ability shreds through most air comps right at the get-go, though I still mostly used Hydralisks when levelling just because they can also attack the ground.
Ultralisks kinda melt easily until their cache is unlocked, even with Overcharge I found. Maybe with Zergling support? Once unlocked, it’s definitely a viable strategy if you can again use Super Gary effectively.
If prestige grinding, go for P2. Lag is pretty much inevitable as mentioned in another forum post. If he had less lag, he would definitely be my go-to commander.
From my replies about Super Gary, I think you can guess that I very much dislike his P1.
I was in a similar boat and had to learn him the hard way
Not too many Stetmann guides out there.
His best Prestige by far is 2, aka “Super Duper Gary.” With that, you can make any army composition you want, because Gary himself is such a powerhouse in both the early and late game that you have all the time in the world to macro up. It’s pretty easy to play around the downside, and rushing out Super Gary at the expense of your army doesn’t hurt your effectiveness at all because he’s so strong.
There are generally three army comps that work well for him on Brutal/Brutal+:
P1 is a bit of a trap. The invulnerable and wide stets seem great on paper, but losing Super Gary is a huge nerf. Without him, you only have 1 teleport, no detection except fragile overseers, one overcharge, less firepower from Gary, and your stettelites won’t slow down enemy waves any more. It’s not objectively bad, just weaker than P0 (and much, much weaker than P2.)
P3 is weak because the Best Oil stacks are temporary, whereas the cost increases are permanent.
Jesus Christ just got 8 fps on DoN with Stettmann. I wonder if going Gary only mitigates the lag.

Rush super garry, the most important thing.
Also fast expand if possible.
Everything else is trivial as long as u get super garry ASAP.
My advice is to level him up so you unlock best buddy (prestige 2)
Really fun prestige and I enjoy stetboy a lot more then I did before. Super Gary is so strong in this prestige that you can mix in really anything you like and it will all work for regular brutal (even used it in mutations). Soloing half or the entire map is also an option. You will have plenty of resources in this prestige for the super expensive units (ultra’s/Mecha Bc’s) and combine that then with some lings/banes/hydra’s. The lings are mainly to tank and fuel the best oil buff of super Gary.
Lag can always be a thing with stetboy but I notice it less with this prestige because the army size in general is lower. I tend to make less units but more supply heavy units then I do in other prestiges however no guaranties because things might still turn into a slide show when your ally is p1 Zagara or Stukov
Due to the current circumstance, I can only suggest you NOT to use Zerglings to tank marines.
Annnnnd keep that in mind Overload will grant Stetallites invulnerability even upon deployment.
