Has anyone noticed that division ranks sometimes don’t display correctly? That in the division, the icon on the left is always the white dashes? Never showing the red and green arrows of old showing whether people have gone up or down. Achievement tiers are also displayed incorrectly. How hard could this be to fix?? Has blizzard really given up on this game? Would be nice if it at least looked like they cared…

Welcome to the game of bugs. Choose your favourite bug now! My favourite one is when every year since 2018 for a while gold league in EUROPE ONLY 2v2 dissapear for few months. So when you are EUROPEAN GOLD at 2v2 at this time you automatically get placed to master. I think it gets to normal after the season ends. Will it be ever fixed? Or maybe it’s fixed already?! Who knows…

You can see there the gold bar randomly dissapears since 2018.
Divisions are relics of the ancient times. They don’t mean sh1t now and represent nothing.
It would be better to straight up remove them completely, but nobody cares enough.
You don’t like any kind of competition, huh? Oh… You don’t… Almost 1000 games played and only unranked. It’s not fun. If I would be able to play only unranked games I wouldn’t play because it’s kinda pointless. Not like I care about the rank but playing and receiving nothing is like rabbit following a fishing rod with no carrot on it. And I want that carrot! I want to see how I progress.
I’m not playing unranked, I’m playing co-op mostly.

If you wanna competition, receive something for winning and watch the progress, you have MMR and in case you didn’t understand from the first time I’ll repeat - divisions and placements inside it DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING. At all.
You can have the lowest MMR in the your league (literally being worst player in the league) and at the same time be rank 1 in your division. I’m not saying its common situation, but its quite possible.
I heard that earlier (in WoL) these divisions and ranks were a thing, but there was no MMR at that times. After introducing MMR it became main measurement for player’s skill level and divisions ranks became irrelevant at that point.
For the people in grandmaster, division rank does matter
Guess what, they are ranked by MMR there, not by some random points, like in other leagues.
I mean divisions are great landmarks and give you a better goal to achieve

Well, if you want fancy numbers with nothing behind them, its your right. But please don’t try to pretend that it makes any sense.
But if you don’t care about “extra cosmetics” which is the division show for your current MMR then why are you using avatars? It’s cosmetics aswell. Use Kachinsky.

Portraits are designed to be cosmetics only feature. Nobody tries to “track own progress” or measure other players skill by portraits.
MMR is pure measurement of player’s skill. By MMR you move from one league to other, by MMR you compare yourself to other player, by MMR you track your progress.
Divisions and placements inside it were designed to be something resembling what is MMR now, but in its current state it represents nothing. Its a random set of people (200 if I remember correctly) from your league where you’re ranked by points which doesn’t have any connections to MMR and mechanics of these points are such that you can drop from your league couple tiers (for example you was in Diamond3 but dropped to Plat2 due to some circumstances) but still be top rank in your division if you playing many games. So, this division stuff pretends to have connection to players skill but in fact it does not.
If I’m wrong and divisions and ranks have any more sense or meaning than I decribed, please explain what exactly they represent.
Divisions are kinda cosmetic feature of displaying your MMR.
If you drop your division then your MMR will go down too so it will be displayed correctly. When you will play alot of games then yes you can stay on the top 5 of any league but if you have alot of games and you are still in one league then this does mean your MMR doesn’t change at all because you are winning and losing at same time so I don’t understand what is the problem?

They are dropping and rising at different rates.
And you think its OK to be top rank in division while your MMR can be the lowest in this division?
The problem is that I was in top5-top10 of Diamond league division with MMR being in Platinum league. It doesn’t make any sense.
Ok, lets go a bit easier and quicker way… What is exactly your problem with leagues if the league doesn’t really matter?
Leagues are OK. Divisions are obsolete.
When OP mentioned that they’re bugged I just said that instead of fixing its better to just remove them becasue they mean nothing now and only confuse people.
And after they I just explained people why division ranks have nothing common with “competition”, “progress”, “goals” etc.
So my problem is not divisions, they can exist forever and I don’t really care cause they doesn’t matter at all. What I don’t like is ignorance and when people argue on things they don’t even understand. This dicsussion was to inform other people of the current state of divisions or, maybe, find someone who knows more on this topic and can explain to me that why divisions actually represent something meaningful nowadays and what exactly it is.
