Karax army problem!

Most of my games as Karax are defensive push or relying your allies 50%/70% of the match and supporting them with Spear calldown while you building your army (Immortal/Carrier).
Yesterday, I tried some games playing as Carrier Karax (5/5 games I can’t effectively support my allies army during mid game push to obj or outpost) which make a lot of them angry or input the “I can’t carry you” in chat.
So the only existing army for Karax is Immortal en mass or combine with others higher tier unit (Colli and Carrier) IMO.
And the choice of army cost reduction is a must if you want make a dependable army as Karax, but not as dependable as Zeratul.
Also, I always have issue with his gas whenever I play army with him. Especially on map that have hard to take expansion (Scythe of Amon) or shortage of gas vein
(Dead of Night).

Try Immortal/Zealot or Zealot/Phoenix instead. I personally like the Zealot/Phoenix style myself, as revival and damage prevention with unit lifting is pretty nice. Back them up with a couple of Energizers and you’re good to go.

Energizer / Zealot is also good (unless its Zerg air) and quick to ramp up

I wish that Blizzard gave Karax the Purifier Stalkers (Instigators).

Immortal/Zealot is the best and only comp that should be build with Karax (Energizer is a must in every game btw)

This is your problem. You have a very set-in-stone mindset without any want to try new things. If this is how you want to be, then don’t whine about Karax’s armies being “bad”.

Always build Sentinels in addition to the Immortals. Just ignore Carriers, though Sentinel + Carrier will work

Notes:

  • Without Mirage (Phoenix) enemy air tends to snipe Energizers first.
  • Colossus is better against mass hydra, though with critical mass of Zealot Immortal and Spear they are easy

Shadow Cannon, Energizer, and Spear are his true strengths. Try and build 0 defenses

I wish Karax’s unit upgrades were just a little more reasonably priced. Aside from Karax there is no such thing as a 200/200 unit upgrade (excluding Heroes and +3), but for Karax there are 3 units with thusly priced upgrades and many of the remaining upgrades are 150/150.

How well you can keep up or outpace your ally as Karax is the very measure of how good you are.

The fact you are here making a complain post is very telling.

Karax is definitely among the fast-solo push commanders. However, I’ve never fell short of common completion timings as Karax with my ally (ie. 12min LL, 16min CoA, 15min VT, etc. These are not superb quick times but for a Karax pair up, it’s pretty decent.)

There are a lot of stuff everyone wants Karax improved but he is still the unloved child.

I said that Immortal/Zealot is the best which doesn’t mean that I play only that specific comp.
Nowadays, I have 4 effective play with him, Mass Immortal, Mass Pheonix (forget the name), static def/push and Mixed Immortal with Carrier and Colli. (All have Gate unit as meat shield and supp).

Yeah, don’t bother Carriers. Timed mission will make Carrier build even less viable.

I just feel like his unit is to pricey for its worth + the upgrade gas cost for his army and spear are very expensive which is a problem being said by many player within the forum.
The slow ramp up time isn’t an issue thaks to spear present and static.

I actually felt bad after a few games playing as Carrier Karax.

i really wish Karax got some powerful casters like Viper, Infestor or Raven. If army is a problem, giving him some free unit spam is ok too.

So I have different builds depending on the type of map.

Dead of Night / Miner Evacuation - static defense and Colossi

Obvlion Express - static defense and immortals

Temple of the Past / Scythe of Amon - static defense and mass Phoenix, while teching up the Spear of Adun abilities

Everything else - zealots / static defense first while saving all the precious vespene. Try to get first expansion before 1st Chrono Wave then get carriers by 10 minute mark

BTW fully upgraded Phoenix are fantastic, they take out liberators/tanks/corsairs easy, and everything else can be taken out by your Spear of Adun blasts.

Its called Energizer

Phoenix (or what its call) is my goto army whenever there is a sight of any air heavy comp.

It is not.

The problem with giving him spellcasters is that all of the Protoss Spellcasters are all taken already. Vorazun has Dark Archons, Artanis and Alarak have Templar, Fenix has Arbiter and Disruptor, Zeratul has Disruptor… There just isn’t really any room for another spellcaster.
On top of this, he has spammable top bar abilities.

Heh… and to think, it was WORSE before the update. SoA energy regen from Solar Forge used to cost 200/300/400 for each level before it was modified to 200/250/300. IIRC, a few others got knocked from 200/200 to 150/150.
