Blizzard, it’s been years, you clearly still want to support Co Op but playing the same maps over and over is just not fun. It might be hard but dropping 3 to 5 new maps a year should not be impossible, so why can’t we even get one? There are still plenty of ideas and campaign missions left unexplored by co op. I can give you 5 new map ideas right now:

Siegebreaker - Based on the mission where kerrigan takes out general warfield, you need to break into a heavily entrenched position while your base and/or army is assaulted by nukes or disruptor warp ins or baneling drops

Space Walk - Based on raynor’s mission where he takes out the sky zerg for the final mission. The map is a series of spaceplate islands requiring the player to use drops, sky units, warp ins or deep tunnel / nydus to make their way to each enemy island and nuke them out of the sky by blowing up the reactor on each platform.

Void Assault - Based on the LotV mission where you have to constantly push up and take outposts with all 3 races. Essentially a giant attrition war where you have to fight for every inch of ground, but also an extra large level with multiple expansions to fuel your army for the massive void citadel at the end of the map. Enemy unit comps should involve large piles of smaller units to encourage the use of splash damage, maybe introduce a new zergling hybrid that splits into more units on death.

Trench Warfare - Not based on anything, a map with lots of high ground and massive amounts of enemy anti-air, forcing you to use a maze of low ground trenches to progress towards capture points like Lock and Load, spellcaster heavy enemy forces, abducting vipers mixed with lurker/ravager, disrupting corsairs mixed with storm high templar and blink stalkers, ghost/raven/BC for terran, just a tough fight all around.

Primal Rage - Finally a non-amon related mission, based on Supreme from HotS, you have to take down 3 new pack leaders who have been consolidating power on zerus, and have become threats to the galaxy. The first has created primal infestors that have taken over big endgame tech units like carriers and BCs, the second is pure primal and uses brute force with tyrannozors and other big beefy primal units, and the final one is more sneaky and cerebral and has implanted neural parasites into powerful spellcasters like ghosts and high templar and mixes in their own primal vipers and roach/rav with tunneling claws.
Seriously, I just want something new to play, prestiges are welcome new content but if we are just using them on all the same maps it kinda has a muted effect.

Re-levelling all the commanders 3 times on the old maps… who thought that would be a good idea?

Prestige is nice and new Commanders too but I would prefer new maps to both of these. Not just one but a good pack of 5 new maps (just pick any good ones from the campaign).
The thing is, in ranked you can always play differently because your opponents will always come at you with a different strategy, so it never ‘gets old’ in that respect, but with these scenario-maps it’s always the same thing, the same waves, at the same time. So it gets old pretty fast.

We are way passed need of new maps.But even if we get 5 new maps right now , most of us would get bored of them very quickly. I suggest we get a custom map editor that anyone can use and put the co op map playable, with the same commanders that we have available. Just give us , the community to make maps for co op. Easiest solution… I mean some people probably already suggested this long ago, but i didnt bother to look that much. Anyway, best solution most likely.

I really like these map outlines. Obviously I’m totally on board with new maps, but these are really cool sounding map suggestions.
Other thing I would want - another untimed map with continually spawning enemies. I want a map where commanders can really stretch their legs.

I’d be happy with even just 1 new map. If we could get 1 new map a year, even if it was as bad as Cradle of Death(which wasn’t that bad, the trucks were just slow), I’ll take it. Please. Just give us something new to play on.

Sky Shield map from LotV where you have to clear the enemies around the reactors so they can be repaired to hault the platform’s descent has been mentioned as an idea for a new map.
I also think something like the WoL Evacuation mission where you have to safely escort the colonist vehicles (you don’t control) to the starport is another possible concept. Obviously the attack waves and attack points would increase with each wave; you can create a situation where you need to either split up / leap frog with your partner, split your forces, or build static defense at certain points to optimally protect the evacuation. For bonus objective have something you need to destroy in another part(s) of the map away from the evacuation route.

that was sort of the idea behind #3, a larger map with a large population of enemies and a constant push towards victory being offset by endless waves of enemies, it’s always nice when you feel unrestricted, honestly I’d love to see a couple bigger maps with empty 2nd and 3rd bases available early

Dream scenario - there’s a large pool of maps (like 25+), with a mix of timed and untimed challenges. Players can create a “playlist” of maps to select randomly from. I’m thinking the list would have to be at least X maps long to get the random map bonus.

There will be a problem with those siege-type mission called Nova p3 
My hopes are that the team is too busy working on SC3 for release 2023 or so with massive co-op support and campaigns and that is why this feels so unsupported.

ive always wanted a Primal Zerg or Epilogue themed co-op map, I dont see why its so hard for them to release maps tho, I bet a regular joe could get a new map done in a week tops.
Data exists that seems to show some attempt on making it a coop map a few years ago actually, I believe they called it “The Sky is Falling.” (work in progress name of course, would’ve likely shipped with a different name if it had been finished.)
Many of the ideas from the campaign map got used in Cradle of Death and Rifts to Korhal though, so I don’t see it being used now if they do make another map.
They could simply release the rest of maps from winners of map competition back in the day. There were some really fun maps, designed for coop, I don’t understand why they havent released those to coop.

People tend to forget what goes into content creation.
I’ve been thinking about new maps a lot, because I really want some, and the new map editor patch can potentially bring us some pretty neat stuff. I’ve been coming up with my own ideas and concepts for coop maps, and have messed with the editor a little.
One of my main questions is about story, and voice acting. Every single coop map has a story, and a voice acted mission giving character. Voice acting isn’t free, even the little bit involved in a coop mission, so how would releasing free content that isn’t free to create even be possible? Also, if I write a mission involving a pre-existing character from the campaign, are they going to be able to get the same voice actor to voice the character?
I’d love to get a team together to develop some coop maps, but I’d also hate to see all that effort and work go to waste if it’s just not monetarily possible for Blizzard to implement. Voice acting quality is a big deal to me, I feel like a whole lot of it is pretty terrible, but pretty much every single commander and mission giver is voiced perfectly.
If anyone has any insight on what the contest maps were like before and after Blizzard’s implementation, that would be greatly appreciated.

I mean technically anything created from the editor is Bliz property. If I recall a small dispute from before between DOTA and Bliz, but was dropped and this very topic came up.

I dunno, I think they can literally just get a guy in the office to do the voice acting, like we got co-op maps that have voice actors for characters like Cartwright, Lyrak, Corporal Faraday, Aurana, and Deebra Green, who are just random characters that didnt even appear in campaign and were only voice actors for co-op.
