Is Offensive GG ing toxic or rude?

Almost every other game people offensive GG (The guy says GG when he is wining, and the game is not even ending any time soon)

This happens so often some people don’t even care anymore!

But I still think if someone does that it is 100% toxic and rude!

SC 2 community sucks!

From 2020-2023 my personal experience on the ladder was quite positive. Most of my opponents did “gl hf gg” stuff. Some bm or toxicity happen extremely infrequently - like 1 in a 100 games. Now every other opponent who beats me insults me in after game chat. This is the reason why i set up parental controls and muted my account entirely. I highly recommend you do the same. It’s pointless to waste your time talking to idiots who are losers IRL.

That is fantastic!!

How do you mute your account entirely??

Go to your account settings → parental controls. You will have to submit your email (may be the same that you use for standard login). You will receive code that you need to submit. After that in parental controls check “mute account” option. From this moment on you won’t see any messages from your opponents. Not sure but this option can be further customized.

Thank you so much!!!

Just a reminder: you won’t read any messages in ALL game modes. If you’re 1v1 player - you’re done, if you play team games/coop etc, then this option will prevent your allies communicating with you as well.

It really depends like if some destroyed player and there is no hope to get out of it. Then attacker can say gg so loser can resign because becomes more rude if losing player hides or attempt fight back when it’s virtually impossible.

Why even bother with the parental controls? Just ignore them and don’t let it bother you. At least then you can still talk to people when you want to.

abs what I do is just block trolls immediately after the game. Even if my blocked list is full I just unblock somebody else. If you wait to block them they will surely message you later on to brag about winning.

Anyone feel like the block list is kind of small? I mean when you play a few thousand games, and play 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, etc, eventually it gets full.

Some people are complete dicks and when you have bad day one dumb comment or bm can trigger you sometimes. I prefer to not read any stupidities that will distract me from playing.

Ok but it’s usually the people who block comms that talk the most BM. You should lose the ability to talk if you block others from doing it.

I never trash talk to my opponent. It is always them who start some dumb conversation, sometimes typing you to distract, sometimes bm-ing you in after-game chat. I still don’t understand the purpose of 1v1 chat - other than bad manner it has no purpose. If you have any queries to your opponent just talk to them after game.

When people write, the screen becomes crowded with words that distract the attention. I would avoid this

Wait a second: do people resing when they read “gg”? I think that people resign when they want to, and writing “gg” won’t change much if they want to keep playing until the end.

For me, saying “gg” before the game has ended is rude. It’s like shaking hands in chess before the game finishes. You shake hands before and after, since the game is still going on until it’s over.

Totally agree. Fortunately there are few people like this. And if they are mad, just mute them ingame (F11 and the symbol next to the opponent’s name), so you won’t prevent having the pleasure to communicate with other good people out there (that know how games work, separated from life but still places of respect).
