Is forge fast expand still a viable strat in PvZ?

Im curious i used to do this alot in HoTs but i dont know its as effective as it used to be.

I guess ravagers can be a problem for that

Nope, I tried once or twice to get it to work when I was offracing Protoss and you just get roach ravager allined.

pretty much why i made this thread im tryin the strat i maybe thought i was doing something wrong but im always ravager roach allined. Guess rip. Hots it was my fav strat vs zerg by far and transition into skytoss.

I nexus first almost every game against Z. Shield batteries are king (a cannon or two help as well) 1 gateway, robo as fast as I can for immortals with a second gateway following, always making sure these buildings are constantly producing once they’re able.

Might not be a good idea/instant suicide at more competent levels of play, but I rarely die to those all ins in low diamond.

So rush immortals asap with shield batteries to defend against the roach ravager allins?

I recommend 2-3 VRs over immortals because immortals can still die hard to roach/rav burst dps and require much more micro attention to be effective long term against roach/rav cheese. Transition to something else after you get the VRs (because VRs are awful outside of specifically pushing back Roach/Rav cheese). Imo, this gives you the best chance of surviving against such cheese, especially if you transition into Phoenix/Chargelot/Archon as a followup.

I don’t think it works above diamond, but diamond and below and opening forge first gives you a 90% win rate in PvZ since they all open 12/14 pool.

lol

I think examples like these is what makes SC2 so difficult. Playstyles that actually work a league lower get shredded up the ladder.

I usually lair first slowling/queen nydus the second i see a forge first. I’m not at high level but it seems there are never enough units to deal with it even if scouted
