Starcraft 2 is my favourite game for more than 10 years.
Recently I changed my laptop with Ryzen 5 3500u(vega 8) to new laptop with Intel i5-1135g7 (iris xe). Both with 8gb ram and ssd harddrive.
I know these are no gaming machines. However, to my surprise, the new laptop is way worse in performance while playing sc2. While all the websites is sharing iris xe is a huge boost in performance, I just can’t believe it is so much worse than a previous generation vega 8. For example, I was able to play the game with medium setting, now it’s lagging even with low settings.
Anyone has such experience? Is this some driver issue or the hardware (iris xe) just can’t make it?
Since you’re only talking about CPU, can we assume your turned all options using GPU to the minimum for comparisons?
Also, in my case, the biggest source of lag is the sound options, weirdly. Maybe you set that down on your previous SC2 install, and didn’t remember of doing it again on the new one?
Thanks. I will try out the sound setting.
The laptop I am using now (just bought few days ago) is dell inspiron 5502 with latest 11 gen i5. Its highly marketed on their integrated GPU, iris xe. I just can’t believe how bad it is. E.g. the FPS is about 20 while in sc2 low settings.
it runs really smooth on my dell 7306 i7. Maybe it is the 8gb ram? try upgrading to 16gb
Hello I am replaying the original and the expansion again for fun, but I keep getting notice that my graphics driver is out of date for the remastered version. I just bought this laptop a few months ago. I checked my system for updates but all is up to date?
I dont mind playing the original but the remastered might be fun to see.
I am am not a tech genius like most of my friends but I am using a lenevo with inteli5 and a Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics card.
Any suggestions are welcome.
I have a bad news for you. Iris XE is not a full size GPU, but a built in graphical processor, which is equivalent to GTX 470 from 2010. So you should be able to play, but do not expect anything good, as integrated graphics were created not for games, but to play films or animations. Even a laptop with GTX 1060 would already have almost 4 times the performance of Iris XE.
