Not that I’m wanting Blizz to shut down or anything. I’m not one of those snowflakes that flows with the wind because its easier.
However, I’m seeing a lot of articles about lots of staff being fired, or leaving. I want to know if the game will receive an update to put multiplayer hosting within our capability, or single player maps against AI and whatnot. I don’t want Starcraft 2 to die out because of bad PR and political bullcrap.
I’ve not been happy with some of the interface changes that happened to SC2 over the years, especially since Activision came in. However I still enjoy the game its self and wish to see it continue even if the company ends up destroyed by the law suits and whatnot.
---- Moderators have deleted several comments in this thread, that make this thread unbalanced and broken. Moderators have screwed up the thread, and there’s no indications of deleted comments making it look like I’m replying to other people in my comments but that is not the case. As a result, this thread is now broken, thanks to the idiots that decided to delete chunks of it and leave no clues that there used to be other comments. Good job Blizzard, you have one crappy forum here.
The media are liars, exaggerators and gossipers who ought to quit and go and get a real job. They have morphed into reality TV entertainers rather than true journalists who report the facts as the facts are.
Take whatever they say, reverse it, and you have the actual truth. How do I know this? Well, reality is usually mundane. They can’t report mundane because it doesn’t generate engagements. So they have to exaggerate, lie, and misrepresent to make it more entertaining because they make more money.
So if an article says “OMG OMG BLIZZARD IS DONE FOR!” it’s best assume Blizzard’s business is booming. If it says “OMG OMG OMG CLIMATE CHANGE IS GOING TO KILL US ALL” best to assume they’ve never taken a college level class even remotely relevant to the science of climate change. If it says “OMG OMG OMG WHITE SUPREMACY IS OUT TO GET YOU” best to assume white supremacy is completely dead.
They write hyperbolic articles that push your emotional buttons, prey on your emotional weaknesses, because, if they do, you are more likely to share the article.
This week I saw that Blizzard was closing doors, forming a new brand and leaving wow and overwatch 2, and foxusing in diablo 4 lmao, the only truth about that fake leak was that they were not doing anything with sc2 and they didn’t mention hots.
I am not so sure. The Battle.net API has been down for awhile. I suspect they may be making changes behind the scenes. Just because they don’t broadcast their every thought to twitter like an angsty teenage girl doesn’t mean anything at all. People are also reporting league placement issues. What changed? Why all the problems suddenly? There are probably things going on behind the scenes.
Unless 50%-75%opf blizz staff were harassers and rapists and they were fired, I doubt the current situation would affect greatly the usual state of things. League placement bug has happened for years, even if its annoying and confusing it is something that happened before. API,similar, many times broken, but this time probably there is no one fixing it even if supposedly there is an external team doing maintenance for sc2 among other games. This is not sudden, since the beginning of this year (maybe even earlier) we started to see some lack of movement, devs not responding, delayed things,no patches…
They named 1 person as being personally responsible for the “harassment” at blizzard and blizzard fired him a year prior, which the lawsuit didn’t mention despite claiming to have, I think it was, 2 years of investigation behind it. I suspect this lawsuit is DOA. It has all the markings of a political hit-piece aimed at the CEO.
Regardless there is no way that a large portion of the Blizzard staff were creeps. It’s just statistically impossible. There is no way you could find and hire that many creeps if you tried just from the available applicant pool. And how are you going to know even if you were trying and wanted to find/hire creeps? Is there a creep test they perform? One or two, three or four - I’d buy that. All of Blizzard is a “harassment culture”? That’s a load of garbage.
Gamers tend to be creeps, actually. Its entirely possible that a large portion of Activision, and Blizzard, were creeps.
The news doesn’t only talk about harassment, it also talks about bad wages and generally bad business practices that should never be done to employees.
However, I’m not here to discuss what rumors may or may not be true. I want to know if Blizzard will update Starcraft to be possible to play without their always online system if things go south.
Then why weren’t they named in the lawsuit. That’s a rhetorical question. They searched high and low and found 1 guy that they named who, oopsie, was fired a year before.
Here is your answer: if the news/media are saying Blizzard is in trouble, then Blizzard is excelling.
No? Activision will keep the servers running until they stop caring enough about having the names attached to them to keep it going, even if Blizzard is forcibly dissolved as a name for some insane reason.
I realize mo… why does every time I make a post result in this stupid rules list popping up over the preview. For gods sake I’ve been a member here for near a decade.
I realize most people here are fixated on the politics of the situation rather than my question. “Here’s your answer, Blizzard is excelling”. Thats not an answer.
I was hoping that someone from the staff or development team would stop by to set our minds at ease to tell us “We will do what we can to make sure players can keep enjoying the game even if we are required to shut down the servers for any reason.” or something similar, you know. It’d be nice to have that security.
I used to play SC2 a lot, now days not so much especially because I hate the new multiplayer lobby where they just chunk everything into one lobby and then every time you exit a game you’re dropped right back into the lobby filled with other people’s games when I only host private games for friends only. As if the whole game is designed around a specific portion of the community.
Forum Moderator Note: Please do not use acronyms for obscene terms.
It will be the first one,in maybe 10,15 or 20 years, I do not see them selling an IP unless they were offered a ton of cash.It would be more profitable doing a ripoff than purchasing the original, why would anyone buy a story that it is alrready finished?, you can make any generic sci fi game for free.
What I could see them doing is leaving some room to ESL to manage the scene and maybe patches-maps,but not sure if there is enough profit once the current deal ends.
I want to see this game shut down as well as war3. Then no more TvP and war3 just deserves to rest in the past this is the most pathetic failure Blizz has done with their reforged failure. It is close to having done some of the worst failures by AAA
Why is there a “like this post” but no “dislike this post”?
Starcraft 2 may have some crappy content in it, such as the micro transactions, but the game its self is still good and the micro-transactiony stuff doesn’t affect the gameplay too much. I mean there’s the coop missions that cost you but if you think of that as DLC then it makes more sense. Where as the other content, is cosmetic.
Its hard for game developers to support the same game for generations, you have to keep updates coming, but you also have to pay the work force. I can understand this issue. However I don’t like the direction they’ve taken in some areas and there were some things they could have done that would have gotten them some good money but they chose not to, or didn’t have the idea to do so. At this point with everything that’s happened, I doubt they could do the idea I have in mind now with their reputation but anyway.
I do not think Blizzard has made the best choices, but I don’t think they have made the worst either, except for that funny as hell “We know what you want, its… Diablo Mobile”. That was the most hilarious flop I’ve ever seen in my life. Amazing chuckles watching the outrage over that.
It’s very important for a company. Once they get big and well-known there will be a phase of low and high sceptism in their PR at some point. They either go down or become bigger. Look at Coca Cola, MC Donald’s and the ciggaretts industry for example. Or Bethdesda as a more relatable one.
Nintendo for some reason didn’t had these issues in such gravity, however Gameboys where critizided after release. Once leadership changes within Nintendo’s wall, they will be tested too again.
Another thing I can imagine is that blizz loses it’s identify slowly and fully emerges into activision. Future will tell. Good people are at work. Let’s see how they respond.
SC2 will go on… One way or another.
Good luck, Blizz!
Avilo’s an awful, insane and worst of all, mech playing guy but Atira went along with his stuff voluntarily. You have to remember that she was into the bunk bed man’s BDSM edating. They’re both messed up and should be looked down upon.
