I wish gg meant something again

Getting a gg after 12 pooling someone randomly on the ladder, doing something that doesn’t require skill and is very efficient. When someone types gg to me after such game I feel bad about it. It nullifies the meaning of every other gg I had to work for, It’s cringe. Good game right? And that one was garbage. Is there something I’m missing or are we using words for the sake of it without a thought behind them?
Or more importantly when have you ever felt something after getting a gg, the form of congrats, I personally feel nothing but notice the boring procedure repeated for the 100000000 + time. Honestly now only thing that is getting a reaction is the lack of gg, that the content creators love to mock people for. Isn’t it that now it just became toxic, that we only react when someone doesn’t do it to make fun of it and we never feel positivity coming from someone congratulating us on our game? Personally I always type gg but I don’t feel it really, I would love my gg to have a meaning other than being a formula.

Maybe if you feel bad about getting a GG for 12 pooling, you should stop 12 pooling. Do something you’re proud of.

GG these days do tend to just have that feel of ‘GIT GUD PUNK’ or like super Sarcasticly, in clearly 1 sided matches or just cheese play, Like when a smurf beats up on a lower ranked player clearly out played him and is like ‘yeah GG!’ i know voices dont go though very well or sarcasm but you can totaly read that as ‘OH that guy is just being an ahole’

Worker sprays marked the death of sportsmanship in SC2. When the actual platform encourages players to basically say “git rekt”, that’s the atmosphere we’re gonna get.

Or more importantly when have you ever felt something after getting a hfgl, the form of uplifting a game spirit, I personally feel nothing but notice the boring procedure repeated for the 100000000 + time. Communication like this is meaningless. For example, reddit blasted me for saying ezpz and then turned around and upvoted a video clip where a guy says ezpz to +700. So is it good or bad? It depends on what direction the wind blows. A general rule of thumb is that people on the internet are benevolent narcissists. They like things that demean other people and that bolster their own ego while gaslighting them that they are actually really nice people when the opposite is true. Translation, if you say ez pz to them then their brain will explode, but if you say ez pz to someone else they will love it.

GG or no GG it really doesn’t matter. The people who spend lots of time on the internet have too serious of mental issues to reach with any kind of communication. Of the three people harassing me, two of the accounts were banned and the last one is currently crying that climate change is causing millions of deaths worldwide. These are the lunatics who had a melt down over internet banter.

Generally speaking most people won’t care at all if you say this or that because they are busy people and just don’t have space in their brain. Even if you insult them, like really insult them, odds are you are forgotten an hour later. If someone likes you, little transgressions won’t matter at all. So when you get people on the internet who care way too much about something as dumb and irrelevant as “my opponent didn’t gg waa waaa” it’s a sign of severe mental illness. A normal person wouldn’t bat an eye. No well adjusted person cares at all.

This is even more true on the internet because you’re never going to run into any of these people online. In all the years I’ve played sc2, I have only made a single IRL friend from those interactions. These people are the definition of irrelevant. GG or no GG it really doesn’t matter.

So if you find yourself getting upset about something irrelevant, you have to stop and ask yourself what the real cause is. There is something else in the background that is making you mad and this was just the trigger. Are you enjoying the game? Do you need to take a break? Maybe you are hungry and need food or water? Perhaps you should try a different game to keep things fresh. Because GG or not is not something worth being upset about.

How do you decide what is irrelevant, though? Easy. No monetary loss and no physical harm equals irrelevant. If something costs you less than you typically spend on a day to day basis, then it’s irrelevant. If you aren’t physically harmed, it’s irrelevant. So if you spend $20/day just buying lunch or whatever, anything that costs less than this is irrelevant. It’s a great way of prioritizing how important things are in your life to decide where to put your attention. Put your attention on the things that are most likely to harm you and or cause the most financial damage. If you focus on things that are irrelevant, it becomes more likely that you will suffer real harm because your attention is in the wrong place.

And what exactly are you planning to accomplish with righteous indignation? I guarantee the other person does not care that you are mad about the lack of a gg. What is the goal here except to be mad over something that didn’t harm you and which is irrelevant in every way, shape and form, except for the power you give it over your own mind?

A big benefit of using this prioritization method is that it makes you impossible to gaslight. Marketing companies exist for the sole purpose of gaslighting you into caring about things that you really don’t care about. They gotta convince you you NEED that roast beef sandwich. But if you have a good sense of what’s important and not, you can cut through the marketing and political BS like a hot knife through butter. It’s super useful because you can focus on what’s important to your life and cut out all the drama and nonsense.

Speaking of marketing gaslighting, perhaps the best example was covid. Pharma companies and the government needed to convince people to take an experimental drug that at best was therapeutic (not curative) with no longitudinal studies on long term safety for a class of viruses researched for decades & concluded to be impossible to create vaccines for and which for most people would give them a mere headache as the chiefest symptom. Somehow they managed to get a lot of people to do it. Marketing can be a good thing because it can introduce you to products and services that will benefit your life, but it’s generally a bad thing because a trillion dollar machine exists to control you for the benefit of others and the way it behaves is typically net negative on the individual level notwithstanding the benefits. That was the covid vaccine in a nutshell. If you don’t want to be a slave to the marketing-complex, you gotta learn how to prioritize.
