How to use Dark Archon against Terran and Zerg?

Anyone have tips on using Vorazun DA when playing against Terran and Zerg ?

They don’t get the same benefit as playing against Toss (can’t adapt upgrade to mind controled unit).
So when I play against Terran and Zerg, I usually just spam confussion and mind controlled some unit that can heal/repair or tanky unit.

Also, why only Protoss kept the upgrade and not Terran or Zerg ?

Protoss doesn’t keep the upgrades, they just get your upgrades. Which means that until they let Vorazun build evolution chambers, you’re stuck with 0/0 outside of Protoss.

Honestly, confusion is a very good spell, good enough to make DA good even without mind control on the table. But overall, they are best employed against Protoss.

This is probably obvious but use zealots for mineral dump and soaking damage for your way overpriced DAs. And accept that it will never be as powerful as a DT build and sometimes you will struggle.

Against terran take their medics/medivacs, science vessels (repair) and big valuable units like thors and battlecruisers.
Ravens and Ghosts could also be useful depending on the version of raven Amon is using.

Against zerg its mostly just use Confusion.
I dont know can you mind control Brood Lords?
Ultralisks are immune to it afaik.
Does amon use Queens? If yes then perhaps they can heal some of your troops.

Either way Zerg units tend to clump up into blobs which is perfect for the aoe Confusion.

Not anymore.

Not really, he has like 8 queens ever and they never come in attack waves.

What you do is you use confusion on a baneling wave, which instantly implodes all the ground units in the attack wave before they touch your army.

Unfortunately Ravens usually use up their energy with their annoying seeker missile hit and run before you can get into range and take them.

You just use them the same way as against Protoss.
Yes, against Protos you get more value form DA than against Terran or Zerg, but DA are still pretty good vs everything.

this build is pretty viable against every comp i think. I almost always use it against that comp that has vipers, banes, scourge and shid. they suicides themselves. obvlsy a better choise than DT + corsair or void rays

-convert enemy detectors and use them for you if needed. just take care of them. that way you won’t spend vespene in making oracles
-always start a fight with the DA within DP invisibility range. Especially important in early game
-use zealots as mineral dump
-use stop time and take tanky units and remember that now you can convert ultralisk

Dark archon outside of protoss can be tricky if you don’t get the good units out, for terran you can get something like marauder, medic, siege tank, thors and banshees works, I would like the liberators but it takes micro for them to be of use.
For Zerg is vipers, queens, ravagers, hydras and recently, ultras.
Just avoid air units unless you’re going against air comp, which makes your archons vulnerable. It’s just very easy to lose at A-move.

Some waves are better off confusing than stealing units, especially banelings, lurker comp, high templar, anything that can aoe their own army.

Last night I had a game on Mist Opportunities against invasionary swarm (zergling, hydra, ultra, lurker). By the end of the map I had over a dozen lurkers. It was pretty hilarious to black hole the entire enemy wave in front of all the lurkers.

Especially when you go over the supply cap and lose the ability to replace your oracles.

Against Terrans you can at least steal heavy units like tanks and BC’s, though they should really let them keep upgrades.

Against Zerg it’s slimmer pickings, but I like to take what heavier stuff I can get, mix it with Centurion spam to help tank for it, and use it as a so-so A-move army. Sometimes I use the Dark Archons to do some tanking.

There’s not a lot more fun than using confusion on swarmy zerg comps and watching banelings/scourge turn on each other and explode the wave

Confusion is OP vs Swarmy Zerg. The Banelings and Scourges will detonate on their own units. You don’t even need Mind Control vs Zerg although you can always steal a Broodlord here and there.

Vs Terran, it depends what unit comp you’re facing. Stealing Science Vessels and Battlecruisers is real nice. Confusion will turn their Siege Tanks onto their own units as well as being nice and easy way for clearing up Marines.
