How to counter vipers as terran?

Can you believe he would trade them for HTs and Carriers? What a guy!
Hahahahahahaha!

You told me to ā€œlearn to playā€¦ā€

I will say that protoss is really hard to control and the protoss players constantly get the short end of the stick because while they keep giving Terrans goodies … they feel they have to occasionally Nerf Protoss… just because

The Protons player has a bad time, compared to the more numerous and swarmy Electrons players.

Well no duh it’s because the early and mid-game units suck.

So do it, pick Zerg, build vipers and post here your replays of you beating skytoss with ā€œOP vipers xdā€.

For now, not a single pro player player has achieved to switch successfully from T/P to Zerg.

Protoss doesn’t even go for Skytoss with Vipers around.

TLO?

TLO is the perfect example of a guy who switchs to Zerg, and never won a premier tournament in his 8 years old career xd

Facts.

Nerfing the observer isn’t going to make him become WCS champ.

He much more successful than he was as a Terran.

No one race switches in this game. Not unless they just barely get started then switch before finding success (like tossgirl). The only one that had a legit pro career at all prior to switching and made the switch was TLO.

Neeb and Classic did.

Wouldn’t say they had super legit careers prior, but sure.

You’re sort of right with what you were saying earlier that players don’t want to completely relearn their mechanics which is why it’s Terran switching the Protoss instead of switching to something more foreign like Zerg.

Honestly, ignoring which race has a lower/higher flor/ceiling, the fun thing about starcraft is that there is almost unlimited skill expression related to controlling units. Like, whatever the race you play, you might not need to control every unit in an engagement… But the possibility exists! If I had 5000 apm I might be able to control every zergling in an engagement at the same time and then oh boy would the opponent be absolutely screwed.

Not too long ago I saw Serral vs some protoss and he was dancing corruptor-viper around skytoss while a runby was going in. The protoss had set up a stasis ward without him knowing and I was pretty sure that was the end of the runby. But the guy, while keeping the dancing around of the armies going, instantly retreated the runby for 0.1 second to make EVERY ZERGLING AVOID THE STASIS WARD in its deploy time (which is there to make sure that the stasis thing actually workd and doesnt just stun 1 zergling and let the rest through) and then back into the protoss base they went nearly instantly. Like, that was absolute bulls**t. How he loses games sometimes is seriously beyond me.

Pretty amazing he’s able to do stuff like that as a Zerg. Most don’t do it because it’s so atypical. Fairly common (I say fairly I mean fairly as in like the top 6 or so guys) to do as a Terran. North south and micro 2 different armies is expected that level.

Clearly this guy never saw Maru play bio in his peak. Constantly microing his army on 3 different fronts at the same time on top of macroing better than most terran can when they are not looking at their army at all.

Zerg micro << Terran micro and everyone knows that. Reason some of the Zerg apologists are oblivious to this fact is that Zerg micro wins you tournaments while Terran micro is only enough to get you through the qualifiers. From their on out you can only rely on other players making mistakes.

Vich’s actually pretty chill. I know there’s just so many Zergs on the forums (Champ, batz, Ace, Stretch/Shaz/Vedi, Velity… I can’t even name them all) that people just react to anyone who plays that race like they have bubonic AIDs. But Vich and Habits seem to be nuanced in their views. They both argue for Zerg, but are willing to admit when things are clearly favoring them.

All in all, I would say Serral is better than Maru, mostly in because of the later’s lack of consistency.

The best Terran is probably Innovation (at his peak), but he doesn’t seem to try when Terran is at a massive disadvantage, his playstyle doesn’t lend itself to overcoming imbalance (think hyper creative players like IMMVP or Maru).

Nowadays I agree hundred percent. Overall, i’m not sure. It’s difficult to compare Serral’s achievements with Maru’s because of the huge difference between Foreigner and Korean tournaments. I think it’s fair to say that Serral is at least equal to Maru in achievements if not better.

As for my comments about micro let me clarify. In terms of overall skill I think Serral is currently definitely the best player across all races. That being said I don’t think his micro is that impressive for a player of his caliber. Byun arguably achieved less than Serral in terms of tournament success and no one can argue that Serral has more impressive micro than Byun (and Byun is a pretty extreme example I think this is also true if we compare Serral to Maru, Life or even Parting in his prime).

Serral doesn’t usually win games with micro. Of course he has very clean execution and he hardly makes mistakes. But more often then not what wins him the game is his understanding of the game, his very quick and accurate decisions and his good read of his opponents. That’s why he’s so consistent too I believe.

More than the ability to micro different armies which I do know all pro players do and those things, I was more impressed at the reaction speed. He managed to not get a single ling stasised. If you look at PiG’s latest video on PvZ with Showtime he notices it by the way (http s: //w ww. yo utube. c om /watch?v=zIPjBtZiLnA, PiG rewatches it at 58.08, comments on it at 1.00.56) and it is extremely impressive, I have never seen any other player dodge the stasis entirely. The instant it deploys, lings are being pulled back as if it was synchronized.

Like, personally I can sorta control 2 armies at once (I can amove at two places into siege tanks so well…) and I’m horrible, I expect pro players to control armies way better. The instantaneous ā€œyeah stasis wards are useless against meā€ reflexes are what make me salivate when I watch that guy. That moment was for me the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in pro play in a very long time.
