Yeah lurkers work too if you place it in a strategic position. I think the best option is lurker in that case because they are half the price of banelings and don’t commit suicide lol.

i think if youre fighting off creep, its a straight loss, but thats fine because zerg units are flimsy, and thor will stomp them with their iron fkn feet. But you replce ling hydra much faster than replcae thor. U see?
From what I see now the best counter is Ultra Ling 50/50 supply. I will have to test it in game but it seems the most cost efficient counter and easiest to micro (just a-move lol). If you have to replace the hydras it’s not very cost efficient imo.
If you’re playing zerg and your focus is on cost efficiency, I recommend you switch to terran or protoss.

well he is talking about team games, where maybe his opponent did only make thors to provide ground defense, and his ally is making air. In which case, from the OPs perspective, his ally would be making air as well (I think, since he’s focused on dealing with the thors and not the enemy aircraft) which leaves him responsible for dealing with the thors. Honestly if his ally (OP) has enough air, then a pure ling flood would probably counter the thors well enough in the form of a meatshield, but tbh the question he puts forward seems like more of a monobattle, in which case, lurkers and banes both win, because burrow. Roaches could do it, too, but that would take insane levels of roach micro, I think. Or maybe not… let me test… yeah it can be done, simply because of detection. boring af tho, waiting for roaches to heal like that.
He said a direct battle, he even mentions the unit tester, which means is just the thors

Relax, he is new to the game and doesnt know yet that same cost roaches wreck thors. Its completly ok to ask for help if you dont know the correct counters. But yeah he could have skipped the whining about op thors.
Even the help menu in the game will tell you (or not, can’t open the game now to check) lings are a counter to thors, that’s why I was amazed it wasn’t a troll thread

If it’s just thors, literally just cracklings melt them. With hellbat support, probably add banes and hydras. Banes for the hellbats, then hydras just for more deeps.
Thors on their own are pretty easily counterable, it’s when they’re in a sophisticated composition with liberators, tanks, vikings etc that they become a problem to deal with.
If it gets to that stage you definitely want to start adding on vipers.
but for the question of 100soup thor, the equivalent soup cost is 160 soup of roach.

I mean to ask what beats 100 sup thor is not really realistic either. Neither is the question what can beat thors with same supply of zerg because zerg always has much much more army supply/the units cost much much less.
He wont just mass thor and if you have 100 sup thor you definetly waited too long. The fact that lings or roaches (t1) units can easily deal with t3 thors should tell him something.
Long story short, the whole thread is meh. But i dont mind him asking questions. Its not a big deal if you are new to the game.
