How the Royal Guard upgrade works

How the Royal Guard upgrade works

The royal guard itself is not subject to attack and defense bonus. It will only increase attack and defense due to the upgrade of its level. Each enemy unit that kills 1 population will gain 100 experience points.

One. The experience of the whole map shares all the surviving units. After entering the tunnel insect, you can also gain experience normally. However, Viking, Raytheon and tank can’t get experience occasionally during the deformation process.

Two. There is no distance limit for the guard to gain experience. As long as there are enemies on the map, they will gain experience. But the guard will share the experience. For example, kill a big one and gain 600 experience. If you have six guards, each soldier will have 100 experience. If you have three guards, each soldier will have 200 experience. The more guards there are, the less experience a single guard has in distributing resources, and the slower the upgrade.

Three. No experience (e.g. nest, locust, aircraft carrier)

Four. You can’t gain experience by destroying buildings

Five. Die for me! Factor does not provide double experience.

Six. Enemies killed by the abaser mines will not provide additional experience.

Seven. There is no experience in the transport of alien insects. Humans and spirits will give the experience of the transport aircraft

so exp needed is
300 x royalguard supply lvl 1
1000 -lvl2
2200 -lvl3

Hmm, so clearing the map out before making more royal guards kinda hurts in the long run if you want to get the +50 supply max lv royal guards.

Going for the achievement? Just build 5 BCs on Mist Opportunities, the attack waves will get you there no problem.

But yeah, interestingly he has reason not to sweep bases asap.

Getting one quick would be useful, that first one will get promoted fast.

If a royal guard is exp capped (lvl 3 or lvl 2 pre 15)…does it still get a share of exp?

True, choices and tradeoffs, good proper game design! :tada: (though a level 3 Aegis could probably solo early game ground comps)

I’d wager they still take their cut, a late made royal guard seems to level up too slowly given how big waves get.

Makes sense… so get all your Royal guards out early…then spend the rest of the gas on other things (dominion upgrades, artillery, etc)

Is there a source for the information?

Otherwise, thanks regardless, seem to be roughly what I’m seeing from game to game.

The achievement for them is really easy to get on Dead of Night, and doesn’t mean sacrificing your build order. I’m getting 8 or 9 Ordnances up pretty quickly, and all key upgrades I want, and still got the Royal Guard XP achievement from sieged-up Shock Divisions.

I read from someone who datamined how it all works that when one reaches Rank 3, they are removed from the list of units that can receive XP, so they won’t waste experience. You will never be punished for having Rank 3 royals.
