How many hours in Starcraft?

How nerdy are you?
Since I started playing SC on this account, I have 4897 replays on my disc, what gives 981MB of replay data (excluding a dozen of campaign runs ofcourse). I know there are many people on the forum who have more games played than me, however I focused mainly on SCU/NotD/Mafia and other different modes that take 30-300 minutes to play.
Difficult to estimate amount of hours spent in game, but for sure over 2k.\

Do you want to boast about your results?

When I was kid I played wc3 roughtly 10k hours in 3-5years including time spent in the chatrooms, customgames and world editor. ( I calculated it with my made accounts count 115 and tried to count awerage playtime and games count of each account, some accounts had thousand games).

It didnt stop there tho and I continue to play it until today and i would say propably its around 15-17k hours.

I think at somepoint when i had played 13k at 2007 my click finger started to hurt and i started to hate mouse click sounds so much i had to just stop that.

Also my back posture changed beucase of that excessive gaming so much it never really recover straight even tho it isnt so bad after all muscle excersize.

I haver around 15k games, and my average game was about 15 minutes long, that makes around 3500h of gameplay, abd I guesd I should add some hundreds of hours more of replays watching plus campaigns or maybe 1k.Still nothing compared to my almost 3,7 years of log in in wow :man_facepalming:t2:,I played a lot and used the game all day being afk and just chatting,we used wow so much we even used the wow in game mail to meet up irl instead of phone call or phone messages.

I feel sorry for you guys. Video game should be a hobby, entertainment, not just life-style where you WASTE (yes, waste) thousands of precious hours of your life. When i was a teenager, i used to play 8-10h daily old games like duke nukem3d, quake series, unreal tournament, warcraft2, heroes of might and magic 3 etc. but to be honest i think i wasted lot of my time. I could have done something more productive : going to gym, find girlfriend, make friends and so on. Never let video games dominate your life, unless you have really nothing better to do.

I assume ur exluding me cos all i said im making maps/mod in wc3? If u know how to make games ull know how addictive it is, ur the god in that world, u control everything, wat to nerf, balance, make op if u just like that oneā€¦the only limit is ur imagination

Each one of those things are optional, only thing one should be more important is career/studies work. Gaming is meant to give you enjoyment, itā€™s not something you do because it is useful, you are not wasting time as long as you are happy, if you are miserable and depressed maybe it is. The things you have mentioned, all can be as bad as gaming if it spiral out of control, you can become some gymbro that is obsessed with appearance and fitness and become a shallow person, you can go find girlfriends because you are a lonely person and canā€™t really be alone or maybe because is what your friends and society is telling you to do so you are basically chasing that feeling which is pretty toxic, friends?, well, thatā€™s not bad, but it is something that happens magically even if you try, it is something that developes over time and not every area of your life can get you the same quality of friends, most of the time even if you try hard at most you will be just an aquaintance and not a real friend, so it is that a waste of time?.

I at least do not feel bad, I played, I got many happy hours, and thatā€™s all that matters, I feel more miserable when I hang around people that is not similar to me, doing things the average person likes but not me, I prefer going hiking , cycling alone, gaming, or reading books, instead of that, a lot of people are addicted to other people, they feel they must spend their time with others and they forgot about themselves, see this pandemic, many people got bored and depressed during lockdown because they couldnā€™t bear the fact they couldnā€™t socialize and that they really didnā€™t have real hobbies or interests other than socializing, watching TV and spending the day on the phone, these days my phone group chats had over 300 messages each group, now itā€™s just around 7-8 at most.

The important thing is what you said with a little change

Never let anything dominate your life, be relationships, fitness, gaming, workā€¦once you are dominated you are a slave.

And yes, Iā€™m pretty asocial, and Iā€™m happy while other people with my lifestyle would be depressed, not every person is the same and must do the same things to be happy or feel like they didnā€™t waste the time, in fact what I regret is partying hard and drinking all the time when socializing when I was younger, what a toxic culture, you couldnā€™t go out without drinking, and now 15 years later is the same, nothing happens without any amount of alcohol and if you refuse to drink you are the weird dude and will be harassed to death by drink offerings all the time.

Iā€™ve been playing SC2 since 2010, and replay collection didnā€™t start until some time in HOTS - I know this because I only have replays dating back to 2015. I played a ton in 2010: campaign, arcade, team games (a little). Countless hours. Definitely over a 1000 games before 2015, could be even a couple thousand, I donā€™t know exactly. As for 2015 and onward, it seems like I currently have 12671 files in my replay folder since 2015. Some games are short 1v1s that take ~5 minutes. Others are super long arcades with multiple hours in them (Iā€™ve tried over 100 arcade games for sure). I donā€™t think my replay file for my games played on EU (they are probably on a different folder) and on other accts (didnā€™t play that many on those other accts anyway). I know there are some arcade games that donā€™t save replays (like Random Base Defender), so who knows. I canā€™t even begin to estimate.
