It is extremely hard to defend against… I even kill a 5.5k toss with it…

The counter to my knowledge is to hold with zealot/probe/battery or cannon/battery until you can get your first immortal out. It’s definitely harder for toss to hold than terran to execute imo, but that’s most cheeses.
Basically you just wanna soak damage with something disposable until you get a marauder counter out. Adepts might even be okay because they’ll actually damage the marauders but the DPS is pretty bad and they’re not as tanky as a zealot.
I feel like the biggest key, though, is to deny the Concussive research the second it’s scouted that they have a tech lab going down. Without that upgrade, the marauders are no where near as effective.
Not familiar with the build… you cant defend on one base and use the ramp to defend with sentry zealot (and shield batteries if you need to)?
Without charge it’s pretty bloody hard because charge was the only thing with enough front loaded damage on a disposable unit that could deal with 2 proxy rax concussive shell marauders.
Now, you basically have to make 4 shield batteries, do a partial probe pull, end up massively behind IF you hold and then somehow survive the 2 base allin coming your way as the follow up.
It’s dumb and it a huge part of why nerfing charge was idiotic.

Fast charge, which held it before was around 4-4:30. With a shield battery and some micro, you held it until charge finished, then your routed it.

Stargate is a sure hold but you still need shield batteries and some micro with zealot. Just don’t build stalkers.
It’s a little bit of hyperbole, but doubtless Protoss vs Terran got so much easier for Protoss once they buffed Charge and Adept Phoenix was seen basically never.
Can you honestly say that it’s fun and interesting to watch a Protoss just crash Charge Zealot into a Seiged Terran? Sure, you can split a little against Banes and Mines, but for the most part, there’s relatively little micro potential for Zealots.
If you get early knowledge of it happening, you get a zealot first to deny the bunker and cyber first. You have to expand at some point though, it’s too important to not expand after 2 mins? Don’t probe, make stalkers and shield batteries, tap marauders w/ stalkers until you have enough stalkers to overwhelm the marauders. If you lose your natural or delay it significantly, the proxy T will usually have macro’d enough behind this to make it worth the investment. Don’t make adepts. Never make adepts vs a proxy. Not sure why people are saying charge either.
Realistically, this strat is pretty imba. It’s because T has 50 strats under their belt when P sees a missing barracks.

And this in a nutshell is part of why TvP is so imba. Scouting a Terran cheese could mean one of several things and without getting lucky and finding the proxy, you’ve no clue what the cheese is going to be unless it’s gasless for Terran, then expect mass marines.

In theory Adepts should be able to help against 2 rax but they have such pathetic fire rates and HP values they just collapse.

Maybe my timeline is all messed up, but I recall that charge was buffed after Phoenix adept had already died out and Protoss was starting to have a bit of a rough time against Terran. Keep in mind this is all well before 4.0, which is when TvP because what it is today.
Meh, Protoss basically only micros their tech units (Templar, colossi, sentry, prism) while a-moving their meat (zealot/archon) and Terran basically only micros their meat (bio/ghost, where ghosts are made to fit with bio) while kiting into presieged tech units (mines, tanks, libs). Neither side is microing the whole army.
If you were still alive at 3:30, the Terran messed up bad.
